Friday, November 30th, is Mark Twain's birthday. Two members of this forum also have a birthday that day

Unlike Samuel Langhorne the other 2 are around to share a toast to his memory as I’m sure many will, a wee dram, a cigar or pipe is fine as well. bambooshank

With his wit and common sense, those were much better times. He’s definitely a person I would have enjoyed a long conversation while enjoying a pipe.

I wish he was still around imparting his common sense wisdom. AJ Some folks would not understand and try to ban him like his books, silly humans 😁.

November 30th 1991, I saw the Highwaymen in concert in Oakland California’s Orpheus theater to raise funds for the victims of the Oakland Hills fire... a truly great concert... a lot of talent on one stage.
Maybe smoke the Mark Twain cob... or my Peterson while...

With his wit and common sense, those were much better times. He’s definitely a person I would have enjoyed a long conversation while enjoying a pipe. Much Better times? Hmmmm In quite a few ways no (silly white folks 😁) though there are ideas and qualities from those times that made America unique and great. These ideas and qualities should be honored, defended and implemented more widely than they are today. Another question is whether or not Samuel Clemens would wish to speak with any of us for a long period of time?😁

Perhaps his best observation was,"there is no indigenous criminal class in America, except perhaps Congress."
