So about a week ago an old friend of the family gifted me with 4 meerschaums that he had gotten some 20-30 years before. Now I had 3 basic/simply carved meerschaums that I had picked up out of curiosity some time back. However I never really noticed any benefits in how they smoked other then enjoying the artistic carvings. The four he gave me were far and above the quality of the ones I already had, so I am really going to enjoy smoking those just to enjoy the carvings. Well today on the last day of business trip I stopped into a little antique mall to see what they had. Well all they had was a single meerschaum that was extremely well carved, can't say they it did anything for me but I could appreciate the quality of the workmanship that had gone into it. I figured even if it did not really strike a cord with me, I could appreciate it for what it was and eventually get it to someone who would appreciate it. So my cup suddenly runneth over on the meerschaums. If it had just been a dragons claw then that would have been perfect(my youngest really wants a dragon). Don't know a lot about other then what I found on Pipedia. It is a Ismet Bekler CAO, with his signature on the shank. Does it look like this? This is also a signed pipe. I think these pipes are quite beautiful. If it smokes anything like mine you will be very pleased Congratulations!

Again my most heart felt apologies

I don't smoke it very often because I don't want it to get damaged but it smokes so well but I don't want it to get hurt but.............................

I have the same problem with the big churchwarden sized meerschaum I was given. The thing is seven separate pieces put together. I have smoked it once, but I think I will save it for special occasions.

For some reason I can't see those photos. You've certainly enough meerschaum pipes to do you a while now.

Curious as to whether you can omit a few of the 7 pieces for a shorter pipe I've seen a few of those and that has never been a feature. Great idea, though. But probably more work than the maker was willing to put in to those pipes. The ones I've seen are sold for a relatively low price. I don't know if there are higher end models with that feature.

Curious as to whether you can omit a few of the 7 pieces for a shorter pipe Some of the stem pieces can be removed and it still smokes. The only issue is that the diameter of the remaining stem pieces then look out of proportion to the piece next to it. Think I will save it for special occasions.
