Last night we were under a tornado warning until about 10pm, The threat of a tornado was down graded to a watch about 40 miles Southwest of us and then canceled by the time it got to my house. High winds did show up and I woke up to this in my front yard this morning I'm quite sure I dodged a bullet here as the root system doesn't to be that great. I'm extremely happy that the wind was blowing away from the house

Jack last time that happened on the farm, I hired a much younger crew, it was strange because I’m so used of doing it all. It may be very wise to hire. I’m so glad you didn’t get any damage other than losing your tree. Here’s my crew, asked while he was there how much for a trim job, he was very reasonable and I got rid of potential problems

Since the tree is down, I wouldn’t think it would take a crew more than 45 mins to have that taken care of. Glad it didn’t hit your house.

Wow, with the leaves off the tree there should not be much sail to wind to pull on. Must of been a hell of a wind to do that. Glad nobody was injured, including your house!

You were very fortunate, Jack. Probably better for you to have the tree cut up and removed....we are getting too old to be thinking like a younger man might think...no sense in looking for medical problems.

Now, he only has fig trees, satsuma trees and catalpa trees (without worms unfortunately). The man has his priorities!

I had a magnolia tree that blew over last year and it blew into the street so the city came out and cleared it all away! I was lucky for that !

Now, hire someone to cut it up for drying and then load up some magazines and go enjoy the sweet, sweet sound of .45 auto's coming out of a 1911!!! I am probably heading out tomorrow for a historical shoot with the associates at the firm - 1911 (Wilson only until I hear back from the CMP...hopefully), Colt SAA, Springfield M1 Garand, Springfield 1903, Lee-Enfield No.1, Mk. 4, and Enfield No. 2 pistol - assuming it does not rain and the range is not too muddy.

I'm glad to hear you dodged the tornado! I'd a mate on another forum in rural Texas, and he'd often talk about tornado warnings...it must be mighty scarey!
Still,lots of fire wood!

I'm so glad the wind was blowing away from the house, brother. There's some work in getting that shifted yourself.

I lived for a time as a kid in NW Arkansas and I remember the ice storms which would shut everything down and the absolutely magnificent thunderstorms. Technically, I think AZ has more lightening strikes than AR, but in AR the storms are right on top of you. The night we moved, I was woken to one of the most spectacular exhibits of thunder I've ever experienced - think I woke up six inches above the mattress.
Very glad that the majesty of nature decided to not drop a tree on your home.

Went out and cut it up this morning, still have about 20 feet in the yard. You would be surprised how many people will show up and offer to haul off the 16 inch bucked up wood
