That's quite a list. My favorite current show is Big Bang Theory/ I have a real love for the British comedies like Fawlty Towers, Are You Being Served and Keeping Up Appearances. I also like the Brit mysteries. They just seem to do them better.

Same here...John, if you have ROKU, check out the Acorn app, excellent British mysteries....I like them because they don't depend on sadistic gory scenes, they concentrate on the story line...far and away better than what we see here. acorn.tv/featuredWe pulled the plug on Directtv...over the air for broadcast media, Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime, and Acorn...no looking back...not counting Amazon at $80 per year, the other three are $25 per month...I don't miss all that stuff I never watched.

Favorite all time TV shows, The Rifleman and Rawhide, sadly I haven't found anything that lives up to either of them on TV nowadays.

Should've also listed the original Lucy Show, Bat Masterson, Wagon Train, The Wild Wild West, The Big Valley, Death Valley Days, Maverick, The Roy Rogers Show, Hogan's Heroes, and Johnny Carson... and more I'm sure... just can't remember them all right now. Those were the good ol days!

Wagon train and Death Valley Days are certainly good ones also as far as Westerns go for me. History channel I like also, specially Modern Marvels and the like as far as educational programing goes, if that's what it's called. Nova is always pretty good too. Not interested in much of anything else on TV nowadays. It's getting so that everything has sex, bad luggage and, extreme violence in it, even commercials. And then they wonder why there's so many killing and violence in the world now. All corporate America cares about is the money and that's were I stifle myself from continuing, nuf said.

Growing up on a military base in Germany, I used to listen to Gunsmoke! on the Armed Forces Network...the first time I saw the tv show "Cannon", I told my dad: "That's the real Matt Dillon!"

All the Poirot, tv and movies. Sherlock, Grantchester, Doc Martin, Father Brown on PBS, Gunsmoke, Wanted Dead or Alive, and of course Jeremy Brett, the best Sherlock. And last but not least, The Carol Burnett Show; the best comedy show ever.

I can't believe I forgot to mention Married With Children. How many of us have identified with Al Bundy; I know I do.

Can't wait to checkout the new X-Files. Gillian Anderson still looks good, but I like the old Cuddy.
Twin Peaks was a good one. Deadwood and Rome are my favorites from cable.
Been watching the old Twilight Zone episodes on Netflix here and there before sleep. Really good stuff, very unique, especially for its day and age. Good writing and plot ideas.

A tie: The Sinner (with Bill Pullman) and Fargo. More or less crime shows with some fascinating layers.
These aren't weeklies but are worth the wait.

I am not much for new (Post 2000) TV shows. I agree with the view here about Gillian. She is more beautiful with age. Remarkable personality on TV.
I was a huge fan of the old Westerns. The only one that holds together for me, rising above the corn, is "Have Gun Will Travel". Old Richard Boone was quite a character in his day on and off screen. The only shows I watch with any regularity now are the original "Perry Mason". "Law and Order", early with Jerry Orbach or Paul Sorvino, comes in second. "Rumpole of the Bailey" would be in that group if ever back on TV.
The original "Star Trek" I have seen so many times I can recite the script with the characters in some episodes. I do not watch it any more but may return to see my old friends on down the road.
The Brits do a fine job with TV dramas and comedies. "Rumpole", "Foyle", "Endeavour" all being top notch for me.
"The Mentalist" was a good show for the times. Mostly because of Robin Tunny. Her interactions with Simon Baker's character were enjoyable. "Bones" was another one, the early seasons. For me it drifted into some weird personal stuff with some of the cast.
I have not watched a show more recent. No interest and no patience. Age and hardening of the brain are taking effect?

I’m still hanging in there with CHICAGO PD. The scripts are still very good and the characterizations are also excellent. Into the sixth series now and there is no let-down. I can recommend it, John, if you need something newer than the GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY. .

I did not know there was a TV show called "Chicago PD". As a native I would watch it out of pride. I recall the very great actor, Dennis Farina, began his career as a genuine Chicago Police Officer. If I can find it somewhere? Thanks for the tip.
