Happiness is trying to decide if you want to open a fresh tin of tobacco or grab a hand full of the wife's butt.

You guys crack me up. As much as I love my pipes, I think I'll take a pretty lass's tush every day.
Now, not to mix messages, when I first read the title to this thread I was thinking of the companionship of our fearless canines, but I see I have been out smarted...

I am going to add, because I experienced it this morning, Happiness is the first cup of coffee in the morning. As to you how tobacco old enough to stain the paper tastes, I'll have to get back with you guys in a few years. I've nothing that old yet. Oh well, let me go finish up this pot of coffee...if the GF left me any.

Pipe-smoking happiness is when flame first meets the tobacco.

Happiness is one of those subjective things in our lives. It is also something that can change in a nano second. As the OP said the enjoyment of opening a tin to find the paper aged and stained, to pour the first cup of coffee in the morn. The joy of having our furry friend looking to get a little love at that moment. Then there are the memories from bygone days that brings a smile. There are many small and large things in life that bring us happiness

Happiness is a day like today, the ground covered with pure white snow. Was my grandfather that taught me....” never eat the yellow snow “! That’s been handed down for generations.......hopefully.......lol.

Bit away from smoking, but the sound of a Swiss Army Knife opening hours or closing. I've owned, carried and used a SAK since I was 12... (34 years now!),and I've never had one fail on me,or bite me (unless through myour own carelessness )
It's one of the few things in this world in which I have complete trust

My grandfather gave me a pocket knife when I was 10. I've carried one ever since. In a small way it gives me happiness.

Happiness is when I carry the knife my grandfather gave me when I was 13. Made by Schrade Knives of New York at the time. Still carry often in a shirt pocket.

My ex had the Mona Lisa of rear ends.
Now that she is off limits- I'd have to say climbing into 'Lola', picking a direction, and just driving.

It’s a Barlow style made in the USA by Schrade Knives. Both handle scales had original Scrimshaw carvings, I re-inked properly a few years ago. The two blades I recently polished and buffed. I’ve done a few scrimshaw etchings on a couple of bone handle scales on four of my fixed blade knives I’ve either gifted or sold. One I still own and will go to my only grandson.

Stained paper has been a good indicator for pleasure ahead!
I had some Germaine Royal Jersey Latakia... the paper was soaked, the tobacco was heavenly... I doubt I will ever smoke me a Lat blend that is equal.
I recently smoked some 7 year old Escudo.... my oh my.
In a few years, I will Rat-ify my cellar... no budging.
