At the makeup Lehigh Valley PC last night, we talked about the future of pipe shows with the insidious effects of the nefarious FDA Deemers, and based on members' experiences with gun shows and the like, which had agents from state and federal bureaucracies spying on the goings-on, we wondered about the likelihood of someone from the FDA appearing at the West Coast Pipe Show in Vegas. What actions are ok in response, both legalistically and morally (may not be the same).
For instance, is it ok/legal to snap a pic of the intruder and post it to a forum, Facebook or wherever with the heading "Look out for this FDA undercover person"? Or do like the Amish and shun him/her?
The pipester community is close knit enough that an intruder might stand out. And if he/she were not a real pipe smoker, he/she could be unmasked pretty quickly.
Discuss.

Legally, if there is no "expectation of privacy" it is perfectly OK to post someones picture online. If a person is in public anywhere, there is legally no "expectation of privacy". The exception to this would be public bathroom stalls, changing rooms, etc. The same would go for a private event if there is not an explicit policy at that event stating that permission must be obtained for photographs to be used elsewhere.
So, in short, the answer is it's perfectly legal to do so. Don't do anything in public that you don't want plastered on the front page.
Commercialization or misrepresenting a person is another ball game with another set of rules.
