I found 2 Corcobs that look different than the everyday cob. For one thing, one of them is a lovat shape. I have never seen a lovat cob before. The second thing is they both have a stinger or a condenser in them. A metal one at that. Any idea when these were floating around or any history to go with them?

Both look like customized Cobs. I have a similar Lovat style I made a few years ago, finished with black dye. It’s for if/when I smoke a Lakeland blend. Those stingers are easily removable and would definitely fit into the acrylic tenons on a few of my Cobs.

Good info and thanks. Not sure I will keep them or not. They look sturdy and well done if they are custom. Nice work by somebody - almost as nice as yours Ted.

They don't look like the Chinese cobs you get these days. They look like solid work. I suppose if someone knows how to make their own stems, it's not inconceivable that they have fashioned the stems themselves, is it?

Don't know where they came from (mfg) but they both look like they would take a stain and glaze and be just knock-down gorgeous!
I'm on a stain kick re: cobs...since I stained mine and Josh's...and put a glaze on them...just makes them spectacular!

Thanks for bringing me back to reality...not everybody is as in to this as we are. It is so bad that I have neglected all my briar pipes except of course the RdPipes one. That one I am still clutching to my chest...in case of earthquake, or fire or anything else that could be considered a reason for evacuation. Even thought about buying some more Legends and staining them as gifts...but who else but us Legends lovers would actually care.

The stinger is actually a cleaner for the bowl, like in a Dr. Grabow sort of way.

Woohooo John nailed it - Thanks my friend! Your Welcome, I've seen them before, it just took me awhile to figure out what they were called. I guess these would be the Cadillac Cobs of the day.

I'd love to have one of those Churchwardens. That's a nice looking pipe.
