I posted in another thread about C&D blends about how when I tried Night Train the first time,I didn't care for it much.6 months later its my new favorite.I haven't been smoking pipes long...since about May and I have been trying all kinds of tobaccos, blending my own trying to find that perfect mix.My journey so far has told me that I like VaPer,burleys and crumble cakes the best. Most blends that are latakia forward I don't enjoy as much because the Latakia is all that I can taste in many cases.
The things I like about the Night Train are the taste is good and it has a decent nic hit.I'm looking for similar blends or brands to try to add to my collection/ rotation.Any of you more seasoned pipers have any suggestions? I have been looking on tobacco reviews but seems that not many have both the nic hit and strength at the same time the have the taste.
A few months ago I purchased some bulk Dunhill Night Cap,and it has latakia in it and I enjoy it because its not the 10 Russians style Lat bomb.I tried the SPC plum pudding but it wasn't as good to me as I thought it would be.I have plenty of Lat bomb tobaccos, because in the past when I have searched for strong tobaccos that is the style that always comes up.Maybe after they age a bit they will taste better to me.The C&D Bayou Night is enjoyable to me and it has latakia in it as well.

When you place your next tobacco order try C&D Red Odessa. You need to enjoy a blend like this between smoking Latakia 👍👍 Also GL Pease JackKnife Plug I highly recommend and neither will break the bank. Post your thoughts once you give them a try.
If your looking for a light Latakia with a hint of rum, I recommend C&D Black Frigate!!

Maybe give Presbyterian mixture a go. Not too much latakia in it (hardly noticeable) but it's a good blend.

I 2nd Red Odessa. It takes up a rather large portion of my cellar. Its strong, flavorful and the latakia isnt over powering.
My 2nd recommendation would be Bayou Night, but I see you already enjoy that.
Old Joe Krantz is a strong one as well. Its kicked me in the pits of my stomach a time or 2. (Burley)

Two words: Black Frigate. Edit: @lonecoyote suggested Jack Knife Plug, and while I agree it's a good blend, it can be overwhelmingly sharp fresh. So, put it away for a year.

Cramptholomew is a man with solid advice. Aging JKP will only make good things happen. Also if you like Perique that version of JKP is Triple Play
