I picked up two pipes today at a booth at a local antique mall. A Ben Wade Autumn that is in excellent condition and a Barling System 2000 that is barely smoked. Paid a total of $43 after taxes for the pair. Woohoo! I may go back after a Mastercraft hurricane style pipe and a really cool rusticated Lorenzo. Both were in similar excellent condition.  |

The antique stores in my area have busted Grabow’s for $50. No deals here.
That Barling is a beaut.

Both of them are beauties, really nice Birdseye on that Barling.
Like Dave, around here most antique shops have burned up Grabow’s and busted Meer’s..... any unsmoked Meers they think are priceless art...$250 and above for what you could get for $100 new.

Fab find. Good deal at 4x that price. As others noted, some places are busts for pipes in antique or thrift stores, with way overpriced meers and poor briars.

Thanks guys. Of late, I rarely smoke any of my larger pipes. Big Danish freehands and other deep bowled pipes just aren't my thing anymore, but I could not pass up a price that low on a classic Ben Wade. The Barling was also a no brainer, it glows and feels very comfortable in the hand. Sometimes you are simply faced with a deal you can't refuse.

Everytime I see threads like this it makes me want to rummage around some of the local antique shops... but then I remember that our antique shops price everything like it's made of gold.
