Richard Overton, the Oldest U.S. WWII Vet and Cigar-and-Whiskey Folk Hero, dies at 112. They always make 'em bigger in Texas. He was also featured in Cigar Afficianato a few years back. He often attributed his long life and good health to the whiskey and 12 daily cigars, but when comedian Steve Harvey asked his secret, he said: "Just keep living, don't die."RIP

I couldnt imagine the things he has seen. I just watched a clip on the news... 12 cigars a day and whiskey in his coffee every morning. So much for those warning labels.
RIP Sir.

RIP to a good man. His life style reminds me of my father's, doctors would never tell other patients how he lived. Bacon and eggs everyday, steaks often, Martini before dinner, wine with, brandy after, smoked. Only lived to 99, though.

One hell of a young man. So sturdy looking at 112 yrs of age. Positive attitude. My dad would also start his day with a shot of whiskey in his coffee. Maybe he would still be alive today if he'd been smoking cigars instead of cigarettes, and had a better attitude as well RIP Mr. Overton, and thank you for your service to our great Country! Thank you for posting the link Josh!

I watched Cigar Dave interview him on his front porch. Quite a gentleman. Dave gave him a box of primo cigars and you'd think he gave him the keys to the kingdom.

His preferred cigars were Tampa Sweets. He was his own man & knew what he liked. I gotta feeling he gave away a lot of premium cigars gifted to him over the years ! (But no confirmation of this). May he Rest In Peace.
