My brother sent me this as a Christmas gift. I have said it before and I'll say it again, I'm not the most active member here but I love reading these forums. I really appreciate the work that was put into making these Bing style cobs possible and look forward to smoking it once the pipe cement dries in a day or two. Thanks again!

It does look good. And while you're not as active as some, it's good to have you around.
Don't be going anywhere.
Question... How did your brother know about the patch poy? Is he a member here?

morallynomadic Nice looking cob brother. Enjoy! It does look good. And while you're not as active as some, it's good to have you around. Don't be going anywhere. Question... How did your brother know about the patch poy? Is he a member here? I'll have to get one of the mods on the S.Easy forum to delete his account

He's not a member (or a pipe smoker... yet? ) but I had mentioned it in a conversation we had on the phone a little bit ago. He knew I liked cobs so MM was a natural stop for him.

Sweet looking pipe. I hope a stem upgrade is available soon. I am drooling at that beauty. I know the price point is slightly higher than the Forever Stems they offer, but do you suppose you could shoot a cob off to Walker Repair and have them fit it with a stem?

You could always shoot them a photo of the pipe, a photo of the stem detached from the shank, and a clear photo of the shank showing the mortise for their review and a reply back to you prior to you even shipping to them. Just a thought!

Just a thought! To be honest the stock stems from MM never bothered me. They're not beautiful and they probably won't last long but then again you could say the same thing about the cob and the cob smoker. 😉

Most places can do a stem. it is the cost effectiveness that gets ya when you only need 1.

Since I'm not a clencher, it's a non-issue for me. I am almost exclusively a clencher. Yeah, it beats the crap out of the stems, but because they are so pliable they are much more comfortable than vulcanite or acrylic stems to me.

I've smoked several bowls in mine and it is a great smoke. The stem doesn't bother me. A cool smoker and a winner in my book.

I was never a cob smoker personally, but the ones I do have, are indispensable to me.

Sweet looking pipe. I hope a stem upgrade is available soon. I am drooling at that beauty. Pete, as soon as Phil from MM has an upgrade he will email me with a link. He is working on finding one that looks good with the pipe and is not going to cost as much as the pipe itself. I will let you guys know when this happens! Mike

The 5th bowl will be better. That's how long it took to get the taste of the stain out.
But it's a wonderful pipe. I love it.

When I suck through the pipe without tobacco in it, there's a strong taste of wood stain.
I've seen other posts mentioning it. How are most people handling this?
Smoking through it? Letting it sit for a while? Putting it in a warm place?
What's the general consensus?

I smoked a few bowls through it and it was gone. It was strong on the first one and faded away more and more. You could barely detect it after bowl 3

I've been known to hit a cob with a blow torch before using. I never completely trust that there aren't chemicals left over in a porous material.

To get rid of the stain smell, I let is sit on top my A/V receiver for a few days. It can get warm there, but it does not get hot enough to damage the pipe. After one bowl, I cannot even smell it anymore. I hope that helps.

I love this pipe, find myself reaching for it a lot. Easily my top cob atm.
