The discussion regarding following people caused me to look closer at how notifications can be configured in my profile settings. I discovered something which I wasn’t aware of and am sharing it in case it is useful for anyone else. I know that most of the people here primarily use "Recent Threads" as their main "go to". However, I am more notifications driven. The first thing that I look at here is my notifications, after that, I look at participated threads, then finally, work my way through the boards reading interesting topics. I have avoided participating in the WAYS thread for two main reasons: (1) the traffic volume can be hard to keep up with at times and (2) WAYS post "like" notifications overwhelm my notifications stream and make it hard to notice other notifications. so, the useful setting that I found is that I can turn off "like" notifications for just the WAYS threads and leave them on for all other threads. Go to your profile settings for notifications. Set the global option to receive "like" notifications. Scroll down to the "Add Board", click it, and select the WAYS board. In the WAYS board specific settings, turn off "like" notifications. Kudos to sparks for having forum software that gives this level of control for notifications. I haven't seen it before on other forums.

Thanks for sharing this information John. It is true that one can get bogged-down with numerous notifications indeed!

Cudos for exploring that option. I never bother to do that stuff and should.

That's neat. Thanks for sharing that with the group.
I've turned off all 'like' notifications for everything. I only get notified when someone tags me or quotes me. That works well for me.
