Started the gym, things are going well.. it will be easier when my wife goes back to work. Question for people who are good at this what do you do when you go over someone’s house and all they are serving is crap food I.e pizza.. I have always been the fat guy in the room and to walk in with a salad or something healthier seems like unwanted attention.. any advice ?

For me, when I'm in diet mode, if I go to a place where people are eating junk, I just don't eat. If I'm invited for dinner that's a different thing. I would have a small amount, but not overdo it. You've got to live a little too.

If you are bringing a dish, there are plenty of things you can make that are healthy but dont look to be, especially if going keto. As for others, its hard to be social and healthy. If your social events are heavy, I dont know. Lighter, then at times a slice of pizza or two isnt bad provided on your own time you're doing good. Remember, even Dwayne Johnson eats pizza.

Count it as your "cheat day" and limit yourself to a couple slices. Toss the crust, too. If you do choose to bring your own healthy choice, stick by your guns and brush off any snarky remarks. Real friends will support your every move.

Appreciate all the support signing up for the gym today.. :-) purchaser aome cheap Bluetooth headphones from amazon and hooked up my fit bit. I’m ready to tackle this.. At the gym, it's NOT cardio. Building muscle raises metabolism, and your metabolism burns fat. I've been through all this. Trust me. You want to get a simple program of compound lifts of increasing weights. Look up the app Stronglifts 5X5. I have it, have used it for about 2 years when I'm around a gym.

Potatoes are worse than pouring white sugar in your mouth and rice is not far behind. I think it helps if you only eat grains that take forever to cook. No instant oatmeal or minute rice that kind of stuff. If you must have bread make sure it is worth it like from a bakery and not from a plastic bag. A lot of things that say sugar free still trick your body into making insulin and storing fat. One free day a week makes a diet tolerable. Good Luck. Potatoes are fattening. I say that after two meals of Bob Evans' Mash. French Fries are the enemy. Potato Chips, also. I cannot go without some carbs. So, one slice of good quality whole wheat bread in a sandwich. Oat groats for porridge. Rice and pasta are very rare, maybe once a month or two. For me, I am more successful if I cut way down rather than eliminate carb rich foods. That probably defeats the benefits of the keto plan but it is what I can manage. Am I losing weight? Not much. It is more of a long term lifestyle change than a weight loss plan.

I have cut my carbs by about 60% along with reducing overall calories. We still eat French fries, but we split a small order 3 ways once a week. Made frozen fries the other night but just ate small portions. I only eat the Delightful 45 calorie whole grain bread. Lots of meat and even more vegetables. I didn't eat enough yesterday and I had to grab a cup of grapefruit slices to get rid of the shakes. This morning I weighed 248!

I've found that cutting dairy and wheat products drastically reduce my weight. No bread, no buns or cakes, minimal milk, cheese etc. That makes a ton of difference without needed to cut back on much of the other stuff.
Again, it's the same thing over again...whatever works for you.

Anyone ever found a Gym that charges by the visit?..I haven't. If you have some ran by your local municipality, I would think you can pay per visit... check your local parks and rec... I am sure that senior citizen discounts would also be available.

I am pretty fortunate in that I have no high BP, diabetic issues, and having a metabolism that doesn’t stack the pounds. I maintain 195-200 pounds consistently on a 6’1 frame... it wouldn’t hurt me to lose 10-15 pounds.
I never workout, but climbing in and out of the truck, moving freight, and sometimes I will work a few hours on the dock keeps me flexible, and in better shape than most guys my age. A soda now and again is a nice change, but one can is enough...the big plastic 2 liter bottles always go flat at the hacienda while still 3/4 full or more.
Genetics really plays a big role...in that, I am fortunate.

I’m trying to work some overtime to make ends meet. Life’s challenging but it can keep feeding me to make me a better man. Good times are coming .. 😀

I agree I am doing a mix of start off cardio the weight trainning. 5 days a week Don't kill yourself early on. Start slowly and add extra days, as it becomes habit. If you go too hard-core too early, you will burn out. Start with three days for a while. Then, as it becomes habit, add a fourth day. Try that for a while, and then add a fifth day. If it becomes too much for your life, back off a day. If you start at five, it is easier for you to throw in the whole towel. Work that three day back stop into your life FIRST. Learn how to structure your life around those three days FIRST. Then, it will always be the minimum. This is how I was taught by a trainer years ago, and it is what I have done for years. PLEASE try this if you want long term success. Learn from failures of others, and not necessarily their successes.

If you're new to lifting and sore, you can dramatically speed up the recovery process by having your girl give you a good massage. Get that acid out of your muscle tissue.
Good luck achieving your goals.

The first time I hit the gym I couldn't straighten my arms for a few days. Within hours of that massage, I was ready to get back at it. haha It's really bad at first, when you're making all those virgin tears. If you keep at it, you will start to miss that feeling after a few moths because it will never be as intense as the beginning.
Bananas can also help prevent that acid buildup.
Full extent of my knowledge... I just lifted like crazy for a two year period because I wanted to wrestle in a couple matches for fun. (Randy Savage wrestling, not crawling on a mat wrestling) haha
