Magandang tanghali po, everyone. That's Tagalog for Good afternoon. I don't know how to say it in Xuan's Vietnamese, which is why I have so many scars from frying pan injuries
I woke up to the Gentle Voices telling me "There will be smoke", and I saw a vision of Daniel Day Lewis smiling.
For the last several months, since Thanksgiving Day (Xuan's stroke), I have had few smokes. Things are settling down here a little. We moved to our other unit, across a long 3 foot hall. Less clutter. Since Xuan's stroke she has let me define how some rooms are to be used. Our wonderful dining room is now Collectors Central Office. Bullfrog, a friend of forty years, comes over and we wheel and deal over Saint Louis Browns Flips {Baseball cards to some). Hot Wheels. Ancient Coins. Colonial Coins. Ceramics. Comics. Old Ads.
Xuan seems to be over with most memory resets, but has lost a lot. Now she is retaining things. Sadly, for two months I have had to explain to her that all of her family in Vietnam died ages ago... explained everyday. She is retaining that now.
Amid this and other things, plumbing, breaking doors because someone locked us out of the unit with the tools. I can say no more.
Last night was the anniversary of Stephen Foster's death. I am a fan, avid follower, and a minor historian of the Bard of America. Why is this important? He is one of the gentle voices. His posthumous song, Beautiful Dreamer, is an ode to a girl that has passed, yet he doesn't say that. You have to look for it.
The other things that made smoking difficult were sinuses and I bit my inner cheek again, or maybe those Silly Reticulans branded my inner cheek with their hometown "Ngroik" Team's avatar. The little devils!
Yesterday I had a bowl of Holiday that started to let me know the "buds" were about ready.
Country Doctor may be the order of the day. This blend tastes more and more like an Iwan Reis blend, and he is the only one that carries it. It's got a sharp twist that I won't swear is licorice. As The Man From I.N.K.S (International Nefarious Killing Squad) says, the Lat and Perique are condiments. It's Sweet and Spicy.
I felt the buds and taste were close to 85%, so I may go for another bowl later. It's almost like a batter with a broken arm, being edgy about his first at bat.
I heard and felt a note coming from my soul to the Gentle Voice saying, Bard Foster, there was smoke.
Many side notes of crapola learned.
For you Salsa Makers, tomatoes in season cannot be replaced by anything but tomatoes in season. You're screwed unless you follow Trader Vic's (the Resto Owner) advice: It's no sin to use canned goods. Even though I would put fresh cilantro in anyway, Ro*Tel has petite diced tomatoes with cilantro in the can. The tiny tomatoes bits have no skin, but also no seeds (a minor minus). They do have a good juice that is much better than mealy winter tomatoes. Fresh Red Bell Peppers and Celery give it some crunch.
Watched a video on rehydrating tobacco. The person recommended using drops of coconut water even in the English. I concur. I also use a few drops of PG, not enough to notice.
Frozen Pizza. Aldi's has Italian Salami at 6.59/LB, which is half of what a deli would charge. Not quite Genoa, but extremely close. Some slices of that on a Mama Cozzi's pizza, with some sliced Gouda or Butterkasse, topped with Moozadel and Italian Spice makes for a parlor worthy experience.
Was wondering if I would taste kerosene or whatever with my zippo pipe lighter. First puff... maybe. After that, clean.
Now, the not so gentle voices of my tummy are saying... There will be food.
Glory to Aldi's!
