Over the years (decades, actually) I've ridden many a forum, starting in the good old days of fly fishing message boards. In our realm of piping/pipestering, I've lately been entranced by the ease of navigation in this site. Even the elephant which garners the most traffic (PM) and has the additive synergies of articles, podcast, cartoons and maybe Pipe Babe of the Month (maybe now in hibernation?), has technical foibles from its now archaic technical framework. In particular, I love how Recent Threads flips to the top of the screen when I'm muddling around deep in some postings. Being able to preview a post by putting the cursor over the topic heading and without having to dive into the subject is a big plus. Also, keeping up with subjects I'm following by tapping the New button eases up on the scrolling. Of course, the members and the moderators are consistently superlative. Kudos to Sparks and his co-conspirators.

Agreed, Les. SO and I were talking last night about AI and technology after watching a piece on "60 Minutes" and I had to remind her that computers do nothing but recognize "ones and zeros"... but they do it really f***ing fast.

I spend more time here than all other forums put together. I've posted here far more than I ever thought I would.I'm not at all computer savvy. So it's the people here that keep bring me back to this best of forums.

I dont use any social media at all, but I am here many many times a day. Anytime i get a free minute. I'm generally a quiet person and never would have imagined that I would have over 2400 post in 9 months. It's the people here that keep me here.

Les, it sounds like you have far more experienced with social media than I do. This is the only forum I participate in, so I have little to compare it to. But given the ease with which I keep sending out posts here, it must be user friendly!

I, also, don't do social media...well, almost. Show you the difference...over on PM I have maybe 350+ posts from back in 2013. On the Patch I have 3,427 starting in June of 2018. I guess you can see where I spend my time. Thanks to Sparks and the fine folks who "live" here...one of the reasons I push donations...which I will be reminding some folks about...NOW is the time to start showing Sparks some love.

I'm far from computer illiterate, having built and sold more than my share and having spent 5 years in wireless sales with the 2 largest carriers. I frequent quite a few forums on a number of topics, but I can say in all honesty that this one garners the most of my attention and is the easiest to navigate. I love it here, more for the people than the UI, but the interface definitely makes it easy to use and enjoy

I read most of the pipe boards daily but the collector base has moved on to Facebook. I wish you could download and post photos here like you can on The Pipe Den plus it more phone friendly. Fecebook has it's own problems... and, no matter the interface, if the people aren't as cool as they are here, who cares? Put your phone down and talk to someone.

I do not have a Facebook account and never will. It’s not like I’m living in the bush without one.

If God gave me the choice either to eliminate Social Media or the Plague, some people would perish.
