I have two pipes, a briar and a meerschaum that have small pieces of pipe cleaners stuck in them about an inch, or inch and a half (2.54 - 3.81 cm) down the air way. I cannot budge these obstructions for love or money. I've even tried pressurized aerosol gas. No luck. They both have bent stems, and the briar quite radically so. So I'm looking for a pipe repair shop, or craftsman who can help me out and restore these two pipes to use. Thanks.

I've used Walker Pipe Repair (Mike Myers). Anything you send him takes a month or two as he has a long queue and is a popular fellow. mike@walkerpiperepair.com

I've had the same problem...took a piece of leader wire from a fishing tackle box...ran some water down the hole and pushed the leader and fluff on through. Good luck...it sometimes takes a time or two.

If you have no luck getting them clear, send me a PM. I can probably clear them.

I had a similar issue a few times. I bent opened a paper clip and gently pushed the blockage thru the draft hole. Was an easy fix, good luck.

I had a similar issue a few times. I bent opened a paper clip and gently pushed the blockage thru the draft hole. Was an easy fix, good luck. That was the very first thing I tried. Only succeeded in bending up the paper clip. I think the briar may need a new stem made, as I managed to poke a hole in the top of it with the paper clip when the blockage wouldn't budge. After that, I merely put the meerschaum aside in my pipe rack, deciding to see if I could call in the cavalry, so to speak.

Try soaking the stems to see if will loosen up the wad. I have gotten some buggers out before and it took patience and luck.

I misunderstood, I thought the blockage was in the draft of the briar, not the stem.
