This is a Dunhill Tanshell 588 (1960). This is the only one I've seen although there probably are other out there. I'd be curious to hear from you if you have or have had one in any finish. This band is 14k gold, not AD and is decorative only . . . the shank is not cracked.
Hey, I dragged and dropped photos, but they bounced back to my desktop. Also tried using imgur as when posting pics to Speak-Easy, but that didn't work either. HELP!!

RobD When you click on the image in imgur.com, a window should pop up giving you a selection of links you can copy. To post the photos you have to copy the BBCode link and paste it into your post.

Got this one from a friend on another forum, I believe it’s a 60s pipe, fine smoker.

I have a grp 3 sized billiard tanshell from 1956 and I love it. Something to remember about all shell finished Dunhills made before 1969 was they were made from oil cured Algerian briar !

I copied and pasted the link from the side bar to the right. The image did not appear on Briar Patch but the hyperlink did and worked. Now I'll try to past the link I copied from the image itself: imgur.com/WArdiEN

it needs to be done using this button circled in red. the image URL you insert in the field must be gotten by going to imgur and *right clicking* on the image, followed by selecting "Copy Image Address"

Imgur deliberately makes this frustrating because they want people to click on their web pages.

That is a heck of an unusual shape. How much wood can be left in that shank wall ? 1/16"?

RobD the only thing wrong with your pipe is that it not mine. Just love that shape!
