JOHN F. BANZHAF III, B.S.E.E.,...well we know what the BS stands for...he authors the story, writes himself in as the hero that changes Santa's ways, and uses phony "facts" to give the story credibility. www.valuewalk.com/2018/12/saint-nick-santa/

I'll say this, I know smoking is bad and can cause issues. My wife and her siblings are good examples as their parents were heavy smokers and would travel in the car and chain smoke keeping the windows closed. Even as they complained they couldn't breath. Today they all have lung issues. With that said, my wife has no issue with my pipe smoking. Out of respect, I will never do it in our home as I know that when more confined, it causes physical problems. She has issues with her lungs in other situations too and its just a part of her life. She on the other hand respects my enjoyment of my pipe and is fine with it and even others who smoke tobacco in whatever form they want. She knows its their business and not hers. If we ever have children, we both know I'll smoke my pipe and keep doing so as I do know now, in a space outside. I'm fine and even comfortable with that. My propane heater does a great job. My wife has even purchased tobacco for me as a surprise gift. As for Santa, I'll keep him in my own way. Fine, he doesn't smoke in a room with children and honestly, why would he? It would wake them up! So for me, Santa continues to smoke his pipe after a long day of work and smokes a special pipe and a special tobacco after a long ride around the world delivering toys.

I don't doubt that genetically people can be predisposed to respiratory issues, but my folks smoked like freight trains in the 60's with the windows rolled up and six kids in the car during hellish winters, home wasn't any different...none of us had lung issues, and now that the oldest is in his mid sixties the youngest at 50...still no problems. From both sides of the political aisle, the research on secondhand smoking has been called into question. slate.com/technology/2017/02/secondhand-smoke-isnt-as-bad-as-we-thought.htmlwww.forbes.com/sites/danielfisher/2013/12/12/study-finds-no-link-between-secondhand-smoke-and-cancer/#1bf8687865d4And there is the WHO report that got spiked after a several year study concluded that there was no link between secondhand smoke and cancer. Not to say that your wife's family does not have legitimate respiratory issues, just that I think that the issue has been lied about for so long, the lie becomes the truth.

I had two good friends, both never smoked yet died from lung cancer, go figure. Iโm sure most have read or personally know of such cases.

This is what gets me....
Kids died because they were around a smoker? Barbecues, campfires, chestnuts roasting on an open fire are going to kill the kids then.
I would like to burrow myself into his home and examine his behavior in order to make a legal determination on what poses a threat to kids, using the same sort of criteria on which to make my claims. I think that I can guarantee you that he has "sins' that are more harmful than Santa coming down the chimney once a year.

Today they all have lung issues. Here's the problem with society.. ANYTHING done in extreme excess is usually bad for your health. People die every year from drinking excess water yet I do not see a big push to have people give up water. Moderate smoking, like most things is a trade off between the health benefits (reduced Alzheimers, Parkinson, Huntingtons Disease, extended lifespan over non smokers) and possible bad side effects (lung cancer, etc)

Life is about what YOU like. I tell people if you do not smoke do not start but there are lots of other things than can kill you.

Might be a British thing, but I've never seen santa with a pipe.
Without wanting to chuck fuel on the fire,I can't help hearing Troy McClure's voice over telling us the Santa is brought to us by Laramie cigarettes and Duff beer...

I was just relieved to open this thread and not see my name.
And, Santa is above such pettiness, smoking his pipe while contemplating which world leaders wonโt get coal in their stockings.

The idiot has been on my naughty and nuts list since he was a child. He's still pissed off that I didn't give him a dress for his sixth birthday. What do you mean I should give up smoking? How about you give up drinking and smoking non-tobacco weed.

NUTS like that aren't worthy of the attention they seek..The problem I have is that so many people believe something some fruit cake says just because they read it online..Just for the record.Santa brought me pipe tobacco this year.

It's all about clicks people.
It's their intent to make you mad. The more outrageous, the more people eat it up like pigs to the trough. If you go read his drivel, you are doing EXACTLY what they want, for you to read it. You clicking on the link give them legitimacy.
Best thing to do is ignore it. Or at the very least, don't post the links to that trash and give them more coverage.
Cut and paste the article. That way I can read it. I will NOT click on that link.

The part that I did copy and paste, pretty much stated what needed to be stated. Years ago, I learned my lesson about copying and pasting whole articles... I was at the center of a Righthaven lawsuit for copying and pasting a whole article... they wanted 250k en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Righthaven

More people die from bad attitudes than ever from smoking. Bring that crap around me and see what a bad attitude can do for ya.

Yep the Government will take care of you, they sent me to S Asia, early 60s, dodged a lot of bullets, came back, and now I realize cigs, cigars, pipes never shot at me,! PS I was referring to Government Regs on tobbaco, shapeing peopleโs thoughts on tobbaco.
