A strange thing but I have always favored non-aromatics like Old Joe Krantz, Haunted Bookshop, Burley Flake #1 etc. The occasional aromatic was a rare craving. Lately I have been desiring and enjoying aromatics so much that I am frankly surprised at this change in taste. Lane bulk blends like 1-Q, RLP-6, LL-7 & MV-1000 have been delightful. MacBaren 7 Seas line is a great American style aromatic . Sutliff Honey is also very nice. I have an order on the way from Boswell's with five aromatics that I am really looking forward to. When they taste as good as they smell, it's magic. It is great discovering and in some cases revisiting these fantastic aromatics that I had stepped around for so long.

Many good aromatics on the market today, especially all the great choices from Sutliff 👍👍. I was never a fan of SWR, reminds me of the aroma of cigarettes, I was never a cigarette smoker which might play a roll. But I will tell you I really enjoy SWRA, quite frankly I’m surprised just how much!!!

I wish I could like aro's. One or two puffs and I can't take it and have to put it down. Must be something in the chemicals used in them. Even if I take a tiny bit of vanilla black cavendish and mix it in a bowl of something, as soon as I put a match to it I pick up that horrible chemical taste........

I have all the Lanes you mentioned and enjoy them and really like the LL-7. I have 2 lbs. of it and the Mrs. loves when I smoke it. I also have the 7 Seas line and enjoy them but don't much care for the Red (not a fan of cherry blends) I just got some of the Honey blend and enjoy it. If you can try the Sutliff Hot Chocolate and Coco Cream, both are nice smokes that I have been enjoying lately.

You need to make a run at The Country Squire too. Old Toby and Second Breakfast are in heavy rotation with me along with Boswell's good stuff

Thanks for the replies and Country Squire recommendations. Years ago I tried a few blends from Pipeworks & Wilke & remember a Rumcake/Christmas blend that was especially good. I think it was Basil Rathbones favorite blend. Any other recommendations are welcome.

Smoking more in the house and I can affirmation from my wife on the aromatics. Early last year I really also got into straight Virginia's too. I'm curious what my taste buds will be craving in spring.

I always have an aromatic open somewhere. If nothing else the aroma of a pipe with an aromatic simmering away is worth it.

Wilke aros are fantastic, especially for those who think that they don't like aros.#515 is the Basil Rathbone blend, and it's one of my favorites.

Like many of you, I have been trying more and more aromatics as of late. I like the less sweet kind, which tend to be European, but have really enjoyed the seasonal from Straus Tobacconist. Sleepy Hollow in the fall, and Wenceslaus for Christmas holiday (or Hanukkah, or your preference). But these two are only available at these times as they are special blends by and for Straus. Part of the reason why I'm smoking more of these is that they are more tolerable to my wife. But I am developing a liking for them.

Sort of an American OTC with a hint of the Gawith soap. I have been mixing it with just about anything lately and it just keeps impressing me.

Another favorite is GLP The Virginia Cream. Both top notch aromatics done with high quality tobaccos.

I have numerous tins of Mac Baren Vanilla Cream Flake and a couple Rattray's Exotic Orange on hand. If I were going order more aro, it would be from Boswell.

Nothing wrong with smoking something that others enjoy smelling. The fact that it tastes really good just adds to the experience.

Always recommend Blood Red Moon to people who are finding themselves wanting to try more aromatics!

I'm finding myself favouring the more subtle aromatics...i.e. naturally aromatic tobaccos as opposed to ones that are cased in flavouring that lasts a couple of seconds.

Wilke makes quite a number of worthy aros, including #515, Rumcake, #191, Chocolate, Vermont Maple Cavendish, etc.
For many years SWRA has been my go to OTC. When Amphora Original disappeared many years back, I switched to SWRA. Since AO has returned to the USA, I smoke both on occasion.
Of course, I always recommend EGR, which is a mild aro.

You should definitely try Butternut Burley, Candy Corn and Cinnamon Roll....all of which can be found at P&C. Also keep an eye out for B.B. Alamo...I have a feeling someone is going to be offering it for sale here in the next month or so.

Butternut Burley is the aro that made me realize that aros arent horrible. Now I have a couple that have been added to my weekly smokes.

When I first picked up pipe smoking, I swore I would never smoke aromatics.
That lasted about a month.

I am currently working my way through ten 2oz pouches of Boswell aromatics and have been very pleased. These blends are delicious in both room note and flavor. Christmas Cookie and Pennsylvania Dutch Treat have been sweet and smooth.
