Looks fine to me as is. Sometimes when you try to get down to those little spots you can do more damage than good. You probably know that already -

Looks like a nice Savinelli, my unfinished Sav’s develop a rich dark chocolate color to the briar. Below is one of my Savinelli unfinished Series III Billiard Pipes that developed a rich color. All I do is wipe the briar down with a microfiber cloth that’s been dipped in my bee’s wax and mineral mixture. This pipe has 11 fills but in all honesty it’s an excellent smoker. I lost count but I’m positive the pipe has 1,500 uses and a pipe I grab often during the early morning hours. The stem does not oxidize because of how it’s maintained.

I don't mind fills on some pipes, and that one is no exception, Ted... beautiful pipe!

I'd leave it. I bought two unfinished Savs a while back. One was a bent brandy that had a lot of fills so I left it. It was starting to look pretty good when I lost it...
The other was a bent billiard that was damn near pristine. I finished it and looks really good.

I usually don’t like a pipe that has fills but I like your Savinelli and would leave it just as it is. I believe there’s significant risk of damage should you try to redo your pipe.

I have nothing to add to the comments above. That pipe has character.

Ok, I get the message! I'll leave it as is, and that is what I was leaning toward. I probably got it a little more shiny than usual, but I was looking to see all the details in the grain and flaws. For some reason I'm drawn toward pipes with some issues. I like very nice high end flawless pipes, and I have a few, but pipes with a story to tell and some character I just can't resist!
Martin: your pipe has some great color. It will be interesting to see how this one develops.

That's a beautiful pipe as it is. It's age and wear/tear just add character to it. In the end though you have to do what feels right to you.

Randy, the bee’s wax I use is food grade, also used on wood food cutting boards. It’s comes in a thick paste form. When I mix 25% mineral oil the consistency when shaken before use remains a smooth thick liquid easy to apply. All my briars get a quick wipe down after each use.
Beautiful is in the eyes of the beholder.....I’m the beholder......” it ain’t beautiful “....lol. It’s an excellent smoker for sure.

It looks lovely just with the wax. I would only be tempted to dig some of the putty out of that long crease on the front of the bowl (facing away from the smoker). The putty is more unsightly than the "flaw." (Really, the flaw is just character. A fine-grained pipe purchased for peanuts deserves to have some flaws.)
