I am currently reading "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes". A collection of 11 of his adventures. I never get tired of the pipe smoking detective, even when he "jumps ship" and smokes cigars or cigarettes.

The books never go into detail on the kind of pipes he smokes, but if they go along with the tobacco selection he starts out with cheap ones when he’s young - clay probably - and gets nicer briars or meers when he’s older and has more money. Same with Watson, in the beginning he’s an army medic on disability smoking cheap strong sailor’s tobacco but later when he’s in private practice he’s smoking fancy blends.

You really should wear a deerstalker hat when reading and have A herringbone double breasted jacket on....when the wife walks in as you are reading, snap at her....."Mrs. Hudson, I am working on a two pipe problem, do you mind? British Accent of course....
It really adds to the experience.

I’ve seen all the Sherlock Holmes movies starring Basil Rathbone and watched the TV series with Jeremy Britt several times but here I am at 70 years old and have never read any Sherlock Holmes books. What’s wrong with this picture? How has this happened? One would think it’s time I do something about this...

I have this book. It's a good reference for those interested in Sherlock Holmes' smoking trivia.

I'm a big fan of the Sherlock Holmes materials myself. Books and movies. There is also an extremely well made table top game called Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective which I've played with family and thoroughly enjoyed. Here's a link to the game. \ drafts.asmodee.us/en/games/sherlock-holmes/

I'm always watching {mini marathons} the old Sherlock Holmes movies [Basil Rathbone / Nigel Bruce} from the 40's {1 is 1939} ... At least once a month .
