I'm a bit late to the party
What about these black and brown Irish ropes? I never see people talking much about them on the forum.
I love the Brown's but the Black ropes are taken too far for me and lose the flavors I want. If you like your red meat really well done (burnt), you might like the Black ropes more … mostly a char flavor.
Brown Bogie, Brown Twist X (rope or sliced) and Rum Twist are all in my rotation.
Dark Birdseye, while not a rope, also fits right in with the others and makes a great mixer with 5 Brothers or Semois.
This. I love Dark Bird's Eye. And I certainly liked the Brown Bogie, on first bowl, FAR better than the two black ropes I've tried.

I think I will be going for the brown. Smoking burnt chicken and tarmac doesnt sound that great.

I think I will be going for the brown. Smoking burnt chicken and tarmac doesnt sound that great. It's not. Get you some tambolaka, if you can. It's worth the experience... I seriously tasted a slightly more than faint hint of diesel and lemon oil.

Diesel and Lemon oil? What a mix! I'll have to add that to my list.

Just for shits and giggles, I loaded up my Savory's Mayfield pot (7/8" bowl), and filled 'er up with G&H Black Irish X Twist. It really isn't very enjoyable to me. It's burnt meat, with not much meat flavor, just the burnt flavor. I agree with Darin, way over done.
