GH has shown up in a couple of places since yesturday. Just waiting on the SG boat to arrive now.....
I love brown bogie and dont smoke enough of it. The nic is pretty potent but the flavor is straight tobacco. I cant compare to 5 brothers because I havent smoked it yet.

Geez, I hope the stock doesn't disappear by Friday... I truly, sincerely, desperately, need some more Dark Bird's Eye, and Chocolate Flake. I'm down to about an ounce of each. Plus, I've never had brown bogie, so that's a must too.

For shame!

I have to hold out until Friday as well, but I already picked up 3 tins of Rum Flake from Iwan Ries.
I'll tap into the 5 bros at some point this week.

GH Brown Bogie is what I would describe as a very satisfying all natural dark STOUT. Love it on colder days in a quiet country setting like a camp out. Bob's Chocolate Flake is another GH winner, IMO

roadsdiverged, if you have some Dark Bird's Eye, mix it with the 5 Brothers at some point. Sensational. I make a mix of: 40% Five Brothers 20% Dark Bird's Eye 20% D&R Three Sails 20% Stokkebye 311 Perique It's burly. Not burley (well, some of it is), just burly.

I just put in an order for: Gawith Hoggarth & Co.- Brown Flake Scented, 4oz; - Dark Bird's Eye, 4oz; - Ennerdale Flake, 4oz; - Rum Twist Unsliced, 4oz; I'll have to try Brown Bogie next time. So it's a burly burley you say? I say! A burley's burley.

Look for it to hit other places if ya miss out.

I'm a bit late to the party
What about these black and brown Irish ropes? I never see people talking much about them on the forum.

I bought an ounce of G&H Black X Irish Twist, probably my first month back into piping last year. I had asked around on another forum about what the most unique tobaccos were, and that one came up. I was not ready for "The Twist" at that time, so I sliced and Jarred it. It's been sitting around for about a year. At that point, it wasn't quite tambolaka crazy, but it was strong and unappealing to me at the time. Notes of tar, and macadam, if I remember correctly. No lemon peel and diesel, like the tambolaka. I think I'll break it out later today! I think I'm ready for it now. I just got some Happy Brown Bogie in yesterday, and gave it a try. It was delightful. Just pure, rich, dark tobacco. This leads me to believe that my tasters have probably adjusted, and the G&H Black X Irish Twist will be a different animal these days. That said, I also have some SG Black XX Twist, which I liked better at the time of smoking. Not quite as heavy as the G&H. BUT, I smoked that only a few months ago, so it's not a fair comparison. Maybe I'll do a side by side later. That is my experience with ropes. It's not much, but it's some. I'll definitely buy more of the Happy Brown Bogie if I can.

I love the Brown's but the Black ropes are taken too far for me and lose the flavors I want. If you like your red meat really well done (burnt), you might like the Black ropes more … mostly a char flavor.
Brown Bogie, Brown Twist X (rope or sliced) and Rum Twist are all in my rotation.
Dark Birdseye, while not a rope, also fits right in with the others and makes a great mixer with 5 Brothers or Semois.

Thanks, guys. I think I may get some in my next order. If anything, it will look cool jarred on the shelf.
