Can anyone here suggest blends that are like McClelland #5110 and #2040?TIA A heavy Latakia English blend. Found this on tobacco reviews: Similar blends to McClellands Dark English Full include, as mentioned, Spilmans, but also Gawith Hoggarth & Co. Balkan Mixture Bulk, Balkan Sasieni and Cornell & Diehl Star of the East Bulk. If you like any of these blends, I think you will appreciate McClellands Dark English Full. Highly recommended.

The question of what's a match for 5110 came up at last night's Pipe Night at Big Sticks. The short answer: there's no match for 5110 and most McClelland's. I'm smoking some right now to see if the taste reminds me of another blend. More soon.

Well, puffing away, I'm reminded that 5110 is enjoyable but clearly overshadowed by other McClelland offerings. I can't recommend a match, but do recommend GL Pease's Maltese Falcon and Arango Balkan Supreme in addition to the aforementioned Balkan Sasieni.
I'll also add that 5110 has a nice, subtle chocolate note that is enjoyable.

There are no McClelland match blends, but you may find that Sutliff Matured Red Virginia 515 RC-1 and Sutliff Crumble Kake Red Virginia will scratch the Red Va. itch to some extent. I also recommend MacBaren HH Pure Virginia.

I'm not familiar with #2040?TIA; however, the first question is what qualities about them are you in pursuit?

But, in the interest of full disclosure, I never tried 5110. I was all about my aromatics, before I met you guys.

I was all about my aromatics, before I met you guys. Nothing wrong with aros but good thing we were here to handle that for you.

Tough match. You might try some Boswell blends.

I guess it is time to let the "dreaded" TAD take over.😄

Can anyone here suggest blends that are like McClelland #5110 and #2040?TIA Sadly, none. Those day's are over unless someone willing to sell some at a reasonable price ( good luck! ) . McClelland's 'baccy were unique to themselves. Just enjoy what's available today and don't try and look for a match. If McC could not find 'baccy which met their needs for the blends they made, such is the case for everyone else. Those days are gone, sadly
