All right, what is all the hooplah over retro hale. I have smoked for almost 50 years and never retrohaled. I hear people saying it enhances the flavor. I've tried it, and can't find my way to do it correctly. Am I missing anything at all? Hopefully, you've gotten the information you originally asked for. When used correctly, it adds many aspects to the flavor that the tongue simply cannot provide.

I think another technique other than the full on retrohale that can have a similar effect is drawing the smoke in your mouth (a normal sip not a huge billow) then opening your mouth up and just letting the smoke slowly roll out. When I do this I keep everything open back in there (think breathing both through your nose and mouth at the same time). Then as the smoke is lingering a bit I breathe softly through both mouth and nose. This lets a small amount of smoke hit both the taste and olfactory senses. Not as intense as a retrohale can be.

Never knew what it's called or anything but I do this all the time. Pirique tickles and I like it. Honestly, I believe the whole thing is over thinking. If your calm enough and thinking bout something it happens by itself anyways from time to time. Like someone else said, just smoke your pipe.

Tried this and find it much easier to do than retro hale. Nice option.

That's what the snork / retrohale is … anything more is just exhaling through the nose.
Super glad you guys are on to it!
