I've smoked 2 bowls of my ODF perique mix. I mixed in about 20 % perique by volume and lightly pressed for 2 weeks. The perique is usually so moist that mixing by weight results in very little perique in the mix. So, how did it smoke? What I was hoping for was that the Meaty heavy ODF flavor would be enhanced by a bit of figgy perique undertone. What occurred is that the lovely flavor of seared steak that the ODF has was muted quite a bit and I got a rather tangy sort of fungal taste. Did not work out as well as my perique addition to Vintage Syrian. Possible that I used too much perique, I'll try another go with less perique.

In my case I had purchased a few tins of MacB Burley Flake, guess I expected to much from this very young Flake. For me it was not enjoyable, it was like smoking air! What I did was blend the remainder of the MacB BF tin with 25% ODF in a jar since 6/21/18. It’s actually a very enjoyable smoke now. So, the remaining 2 tins of MacB Burley Flake is now married with 25% ODF since the end of June of this year. After a full year it should be a much more enjoyable smoke. The MacB Burley Flake was tinned with NO age, for it to get any better it would need TEN years of aging. In ten years I won’t be here to enjoy it!!!
I’ve tried ODF with a few different Perique tobacco’s, never achieved what I was looking for, hopefully you do.......good luck👍👍

Yes 20% Perique is allot of Perique. True, but I usually like a fair bit, and I've found in some lat blends it works for me. It just might not be complimentary to ODF.
