I've been a member of gun forums, Ford forums, fishing forums and the like. Just thinking what I would do if someone came to my door asking why I'm not posting on a forum anymore......... I have been on a lot of gun forums, and I have never seen anyone that I thought I would like in person, unlike the pipe forums. x2........... |

thanx for the mention of old ASP. Me a real die-hard for not understandable reason(s). The only regular for awhile now. One I remember well was Terry Davey, "Dr.Blues" was one of his many handles. Had gorgeous home, gorgeous wife in FL somewhere (seen pics of family). Had a severe stroke awhile back. Now living near Watertown NY...pretty sure near his Dad. There were others back in them thar days. Un-moderated, frequent trolls but I'd never antognize 'em. It seems to me that people come and go on website forums. Our email address is on file. If a member does not respond to PMs or emails, that ought to be the extent of contact by Mods and members. If members have formed a more serious bond, that is different and strictly between them. We should respect member privacy. I can recall dropping participation on another website and soon there was a Deputy Sheriff at my door on a "welfare check". It seems the moderator tracked me down on Facebook and since I live in a small village and am also listed in the phone directory, I was easy to locate. That was disturbing. I appreciated the concern but, just as easily, it could have been some nut with a grudge.
So, if I drop out from here, youse guys will never take me alive!

Sometimes, it occurs to me I might fall while performing my irrigation ditch rider duties in a remote spot. In such case, coyotes, ravens and magpies and perhaps the odd vulture. OK with me. Coyotes used to follow me, more out of curiosity, I think. |

Downtown maybe a little rough but a number of areas seem to be going through some gentrification. |

Downtown maybe a little rough but a number of areas seem to be going through some gentrification. Glad to hear it. I really liked the town when I lived there in the late 60's and early 70's. |

I've often wondered what happens to folks when they disappear from the 'Patch. Have we offended them? Have they passed? Did they get bored? We'll probably never know. Used to happen at the old ASP (alt.smokers.pipes) too... I suppose it's a reality of online society. Something of a virtual goodbye. |

I’ve sent two PM’s to Mike aka truculentfrogs in the past 2 months with no response. We had PM’d prior. I’ve posted this same question a few times prior. Hope Mike is doing well. We’ve not heard from antb from the Dark Continent for quite some time. A few others as well. As mentioned, people stop posting for a variety of reasons, many benign. But, AntB is concerning, given the political situation in South Africa. I get 'like' alerts from antb regularly. One such within the last few days. |
