So about a month a go I won a bid on CigarBid for a pound of 1Q. Dropped it in a big flip-top glass jar and this weird film formed on the glass. It isn't moisture or mold. I wiped a section of it and doesn't come back. I have never had any other tobac do that in jars. Some sort of gassing of topping? Thoughts?

Hi, did you boil the jar before storing tobacco inside?

I'd open the jar and let it air out. I have way more 1Q jarred up than I'll ever smoke, I tightly packed in around a pound into a quart size jar with good results.

It just seems to be a film rather then moisture. If I wipe it that spot never films over. May just dump the contents out and wipe it down again and see if it returns

I've had that happen with Potlatch and Seattle Evening, both in those types of jars. I'm wondering if it is related to the silicon rubber seal ring? I've never had any other jar (regular Mason jar) cloud up like this.

Overly moist tobacco with a lid that was not air tight, condensation formed. Let it dry out completely and top with a double piece of Saran Wrap for a better seal, works well for me....good luck.

I bet it's the topping which coated the jar. It wasn't wet, so that rules out moisture, though probably the topping was carried in moisture, and then it dried leaving a film.
Is it called evanescence? No. Maybe effervescence? No; can't find the word at this moment.

Well since I brought it out, might as well smoke a bowl of it!

Is PG not considered a topping, or is that a separate category?

Ectoplasm - The Gentle Voices in the jar are indicating they are thankful for the toby Alright Egon... So my jar of 1-Q is perfectly normal, correct? Aside from a little drying time of course.

Is PG not considered a topping, or is that a separate category? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propylene_glycol or PG is mixed with the flavor and sprayed on the tobac. It is used because it evaporates which is apparently what is happening in my jar or the alternative theory is that the key to Gozer is hidden inside.

But I wanted to know if PG falls under the general term of "topping". It is put on top, and sometimes mixed with the flavor topping. So, is PG by itself considered a topping as pipe blenders would use the term?

Just for the record, I have had a big 16oz jar of 1Q for quite some time. For a few years when I wasn't smoking it was about half full and closed the whole time. Last year I stocked up and stuffed it full with fresh 1Q and dip into it from time to time. It has never fogged up on me like that. It sits in my closet on the shelf away from any sunlight with little air flow from the one vent in there.

I have had three jars fog up just like that. One of them being 1Q. It's the snap lock lid. I moved all my tobacco into the large Ball jars with a screw down lid and they are great now.

Wonder why they can't just put the flavor on the tobacco and leave the PG out.......I can't smoke anything with that crap on it !!
