Ecigs are already banned here in thailand. Totally. Online offline doesn't matter. I have no idea why nor do most people. Cigarettes? Nobody cares

The bill will ban all tobacco products from being sold online and ban all flavored tobacco products, aka aromatics.

Stores will just advertise and customers will have to call. Not sure that this will curtail many folks from getting product. In fact, it may help with the shortages that are being caused by easy access from your home computer or phone.

Apparently the bill was introduced a month ago and as of yesterday had no co-sponsors. That may indicate it has a low chance of getting out of the house in its present version. Hopefully that works out.

I knew it was inevitable, as I stated in a few threads prior.

It may not be through this Bill but the forbidding of internet sales of all tobacco products is coming. Best you stash now.

The article doesn't specifically mention pipe tobacco, but I would assume that it will eventually cover that was well. A ban on Internet sales would not surprise me in the least. The only surprise so far is that it hasn't already happened. Mail order will also become a thing of the past under the terms of this bill. Your local B&M will become your only source. You've all been supporting your local B&M's right?

We would return to catalogue sales. do you think? Or would they ensure that loophole is plugged?

We would return to catalogue sales. The first paragraph in the original post link: A new bill introduced in Congress would drastically change the U.S. federal government’s laws regarding tobacco products, most notably, banning the sale of cigars online and through catalogs.

She sounds like a real peach! the committee she chairs, and being a senior member of the agriculture committee puts her in a place that I wish she wasn’t.... it sounds like she has an axe to grind against tobacco.

Online ban would definitely give local B&M's an advantage. My guess is you would see blends exclusive to online shops such as P&C to start a distribution chain to B&M if it comes to that. One thing for sure it would change the whole dynamic for those online retailers.
Ban on all flavored tobacco has been submitted in Cali and now in this bill. That is worrying that some of the beloved aromatics would go away. Maybe aromatics go underground with a lot of DIY for those feeling adventurous in trying to recreate recipes. I for one would probably try a few experiments if it came to it.
Seems like the continued assault will win someday if not with this bill some other bill that gets slipped in to some big legislation. Writing is on the wall and the future is not so bright.

Writing is on the wall and the future is not so bright. you could use concentrated food flavoring, like they use for vape liquid, for aromatics. You can get them PG or Alcohol based. I'd assume, probably correctly, that that's what most manufacturers use anyway. I was thinking of messing around with an apple, butternut, and red oak blend. Seedmans has specific tobacco flavoring. www.seedman.com/flavor.htm(Edit: these flavors are also used in vape liquid. I used the Captain Black, with vanilla, cocao, and raisin for years in one of my liquid blends)

Many of us have known for quite some time the current arrangement would be short lived. Some of us accumulated enough tobacco to be a B&M and have no worries. There are priorities and then there are priorities. Today's modern day Tom Sawyer knows changes aren't permanent but change is. In the words of George Washington Plunkitt of Tammany Hall fame, "I seen my opportunities and I took 'em."

We would return to catalogue sales. I agree with toshtego. Be like going back to the 50's when Sears was still in business.

It smacks of "For the Sake of the Children" horse sh!t that seems to spew from the mouths of socialist minded folk that think they are all obviously more informed, therefore more intelligent on such matters and need to keep us knuckle draggin, mouth breathers in line.
(not that I have an opinion on it one way or the other. ;-P)

"The tobacco apocalypse is coming"
I think this thread marks the millionth time I've heard or read that over the last twenty years.
I think I'll have a smoke to celebrate my 1-millionth while I wait.

A nice thought, but if Internet and email sales are halted domestically, the same will happen with international shipments. I deal with international shipments daily, and a commercial invoice is required...If this eventually gets passed, and it probably will, international shipments will not go un-noticed under their watchful gaze... (and without referring to the text right now as I am mobile)... “mail” means mail, foreign or domestic.
