Years ago I was told by a man, that I hold in high regard, that Nording Pipes usually smoked wet. I never had the opportunity to ask the individual just exactly what was meant by his statement. I’ve seen several Nording pipes that appealed to me but held off from buying one because of the statement I heard. Does anyone have first hand knowledge about Nording pipes and how they smoke? If so would you please share your experiences.

I've also heard this and would surmise that they smoke wet because of the drilling's are off a lot, eg. chamber drilled too low, etc. But, I would also think this probably means in the cheaper line. I've had a few and still own one of the higher quality pipes but, have yet to taken the time and smoke any of them.

I have a Nording Signature and it is wonderful, especially for the price. It's also been fun watching it turn color over the years.

No Nording issues here except I don't own enough of them.

I have two Nordings. One purchased by my wife in the 1970's, a hand made slightly bent freeform horn, medium size with ring grain and plateau top still smokes beautifully. The second is a recent purchase by my son as a gift for me and I have not yet smoked it. I have heard tales however, so if you get a Nording, get a higher end Nording. There does appear to be a difference in smoke ability, but that's based on what I've heard and read. For what it's worth.

I have both a Nording signature natural freehand which I love (biggest bowl I have) and love to watch it color. I do dry my baccy a bit anyhow so I’ve never had issues. I also have a Nording Churchwarden that is a delight to smoke and I smoked both aromatics and English/balkans with no issues either. I think for the price, Nording make an outstanding pipe.

I have around 15-20 Nording freehands mostly from the 1970-80s. I have not had any noticeable issue with them. Though from time to time a few of them did smoke a bit wet. This could easily be due to mistakes I was making at the time.
PS I do not discount others thoughts & experiences. However I wonder about the sample size and techniques.

I have two Nording freehands. They're both great smokers, and surprisingly light and clenchable for their size. Each pipe was priced around $100 so I'm not thinking these are high-grades. Anything with latakia is particularly good in them, and I don't remember a gurgle from either.

I have a Nording Compass, one of the inexpensive pipes and have not had an issue with smokability. I had to sand the seams on the bit but it smokes nice.

I've heard guys being unimpressed with everything from a Dunhill to a Grabow, complaining about how certain brands smoke. There are many things which contribute to why a pipe might "smoke wet". Yep...could be the mechanics due to how it's drafting, but could be a damp blend, could be the guy is a clencher who's breathing back into his stem...etc. No issues with Nording here. Try one!

I owned two Nording Pipes years ago, both were not even considered decent smokers by me. Both were traded, I did just fine with an older NOS Meer👌👍👍

SON was the early name for Nording pipes if I recall correctly. I had one of those and it was a great smoker.

I have always liked Nording's philosophy. He wants you to have a good looking pipe at a reasonable price. That's a good business model imo.

I have a Nording Extra apple, certainly not a high end, which smokes very nice and not wet at all.
