Very nice work! Old Renaults are cool and seem to range from the usual boxy sedans, to the nifty Caravelle sports car. Thanks for posting this, brings back some pleasant memories.

Might not fit the topic but here's a stove I finished. Hang on a sec...when you say finished, do you mean that you painted it or you've finished making the whole thing from scratch? Regardless, you're a talented man.

Thank you, no it was worn out and rusty when the customer brought it to me. You've done a fantastic job restoring it though. I normally spray black paint over the rust. Works for me.

I have only seen a few Renaults on the road. They quit (attempting) selling them in the US because they just weren't dependable. They often didn't even make it off the dealer lot before they broke down. They made the English cars look good.

VW had already cornered that small foreign niche they were attempting to capture and didn't have any real dealer support or network to compete. Dependability, nothing worse than a VW Beatle if not better in my opinion and the Beatle did pretty well sales wise wouldn't you agree?

That Renault should be a lot of fun to wheel around in.

WOW beautiful work!
I've got a '61 Willy's Jeep sitting in my garage in need of some TLC and time to work on it. It has less than 20k miles on it.
May hit you up when I need to source parts!

I raced Beatles, drove a Karman Ghia and everyone I knew had a VW at one time or another. I knew a guy who drove one of the old funny little Citroën bugs for years, but I never knew anyone who would drive a Renault.

Not for their line of vehicles per se, but to acquire a working network which they lacked. Without a network no sales or a chance to build an interest. But it was too late. And remember when the gas crises came EVERYONE was suddenly producing Pinto"s Gremlins and other pieces of sh*. But all said, anything 60's and back is simple to work on. Easy to get at and fix. Part of the fun.. Spent a half hour changing a headlight bulb today on a new Honda. Now that modern stupidity nightmare for contrast will drive you completely bonkers.

What I'm fixing up now. After so many American and Swedish vehicles wanted to try something different. I would've never thought it in the past. But there's something charming and addicting about these old Renaults. (I'm a car painter/ auto body) LOOKING GOOD Man

Very nice work you do...takes a craftsman with the will and time to do it right. Loved my Ghias...both of them...great lil' cars.

I really like those quirky European cars. I bought my wife a Renault Alliance in 1983 when she learned to drive. She was from Brooklyn so didn't drive until we got married and lived in NJ. That little car did well by us and we let our French au pair use it to drive our daughter around. Very nice work on all of those pieces. Keep them coming.

Then your model cherry picker does not have "The Clap". It has "The Applause", which is as bad as having Chirpies. It's a Canarial Disease and is untweetable

I drove one with the 400+ci engine once. Pretty exciting. My buddy put 300k miles on his. Changing a headlight bulb on my Gold Wing is a 40 minute project. My pickup requires removing the grill and radiator support to change a bulb.

(I'm a car painter/ auto body) Zoot alors!I also admire and appreciated some French cars and agree they are no worse than other Euro cars. The Citroen DS and the Peugeot 504 diesel wagon built for the North African market are among my favorites. Best of luck with your project.
