It’s unusually warm tonight, 40 degrees. My buddy from Florida and I usually try to do a FaceTime some but I’m usually doing a quick pipe in the house because it’s so damn cold. Tonight I want to do a cigar so.......
Do I smoke something recent, easy to find and inexpensive like a Jericho Hill lancero or.....
Do I smoke something harder to find, aged and at this point with age, fairly expensive. A 2007 Montecristo #2?
Thoughts?

Smoke a cigar that you enjoy that will last through your FaceTime session. Are you smoking indoors or outdoors? If time doesn’t play a role with your online visit......” bring out the BIG guns “!!

I will smoke pipes inside but not cigars so good thing to consider. Although I just read a note from my sons teacher about an incident he had and I’m no longer in relaxed mode. More like wound up like a top mode.

More like wound up like a top mode. I know your pain. Although not a note from school. My 15 year old has me and his mom on edge because of weekend events. Since you're not in the best of moods I'd suggest the cheaper, readily available one. Save the "good" one for when you're relaxed and can really enjoy it.

Bourbon is poured.
Might just leave the cigars in the humi, I’ll post if I light up.

His fate is decided by his actions. He'll be 16 in 2 weeks and right now hes on the wrong path.
I hope your nerves settle soon and whatever the "issue" was with your son, or the teacher, gets resolved.

Best of luck for you both...whatever it is, it isn't life changing...nothing some conversation and a lot of love can't cure...so let them both know that whatever it is/was is also not life changing...only a moment in a long life to live, nothing that your love can't cure.

Scott,
Save the cigars for warmer more pleasant evenings to be sitting outside, in the meantime kick back with a nice adult beverage.
Being the father of a teenage daughter, sometimes it’s hard to remember that we were their ages once and what we thought was no big deal our parents had the same sort of reactions we do now. It’s payback, Robin Williams had a few skits about it over the years. Anyway, it’s school problem, so it’s bad but unless it’s catastrophic and involves law enforcement it shall pass. Hell, (I can say that right?) I got suspended in 8th grade for punching a gym teacher in the face, I survived, he survived. It happens that it WAS his fault, he waded in to break up a fight I was in right as I was throwing the punch.
Remember, few deep breaths and deal with the situation at hand and try to remember you were his age once too. Josh, hope you are able to help your son find his way before it’s too late.

Save your cigar for a time when all is well with your world. In the meantime just have a bowl of your favorite blend in a cob. It should smooth out any little bumps on the road through life’s journey.

Just hopped onto this a little late. I've no advice for cigars, except to say that I would save good cigars for when you are in the mood to enjoy it.
Sorry to hear about the issue you're having with your son. I hope it smooths out soon and it's only a minor blip.
What did you do in the end?

I'd save the fine cigar for when you can truly enjoy and immerse yourself in it without distraction. Good luck with the son's situation. Never easy.
