Came in the mail yesterday. Fast friendly service I have to say from Italy. Initial thoughts are I'm happy except for one thing. Box, wrapping everything has an old antique bookstore smell. I'm down with the flu so I'll hold off my judgement somewhat on that. it's not a good smell anyways. Obviously I'm in no shape to smoke a bowl now. But something to look forward to.

Nice pipe, congrats. I have a "stretch" Ardor poker that has the same rustication and rim.

I like the smell of an old library. NICE pipe! I have one Ardor...a great looking, very good smoker. I like the look and feel and hopefully it is a good smoker. The smell though to me is not good at all. Fresh new pipe should smell, well fresh. Thinking of burying the whole box pipe shebang in ceder chips for a week.

BB...I definitely agree...a new pipe should NOT smell like that...even if I like old libraries! Hopefully the scent is different once you're past the flu. I just got over 2 weeks plus with type A.

Beautiful pipe, sir. Ardor makes some great looking hunks of briar. That rustication is right up my alley. I don't own one, but I've always admired Ardor pipes.

Thanks buddy, The rustication is what sealed the deal for me. That and it was the shape I was looking for. Side story: I had located here in Sweden a guy with 3 nice Dunhills in original boxes for sale. I contacted the guy and he came across as an a1 a $**l^ to me. No matter the deal, I don't do business with people like that. Took my business elsewhere..

If it had been on the shelf of a tobacco shop for a few years it would be expected that it would aquire a patina and a bit of odor. I would call it character.

I have 9 Ardors and they are great smokers. I'm sure you'll enjoy yours when the time comes.

Here's mine, 275 grams. I think the pipe would make Boswell proud. Depending on your preference, I would be cautious about posting a video with that pipe on YouTube. There are a few bear hunters out there looking for Grizzlies. ;-)

Do you really smoke that? Looking at oldcajun123's recent photo, I would think so. If oldcajun123 enjoys them, I am down with that. PS These briars come at a fairly high cost.

That's cool to each their own. But for me personally it's hard for me to take them seriously as a Pipe company when they're also building pipes the size of a carved moose leg. I made one purchase from Ardor. That's enough for me frankly. That old moldy paper smell on their pipes and boxes shouldn't be there either for the price one pays.

That is one sweet looking pipe. I'm sure the smell will change to one of smoked tobacco soon enough.

Boy, that's one big dawg. But if it's an Ardor, it's a good pipe. I only just discovered the brand recently, and they are pretty fine. Not likely to get one anytime soon, though, as I am saving for a Castello, but they seem to follow similar styles.

BTW that huge pipe is not mine.
