I am amazed at how many different blends there are to try. Many are similar to another blend, but there is always that subtle difference that makes it different.

Many many blends. Some very similar with minor differences. Difference might just be in the cut or texture. But its amazing that sometimes even just the cut of a tobacco (shag, ribbon, cake, flake) is enough for you love or dislike a blend that is similar to another.

For some, like pepesdad1, pipe smoking is a way of life. For others it's a hobby... And what a great hobby it is. It's the different blends and the different pipe shapes that keep it interesting, for me. |

The hobby of blending what you enjoy, either purchasing or making pipes that smoke to your pleasure. Making some outrageous tampers. Plus a few lighters to your collection 👌👍👍👍

It's the different blends and the different pipe shapes that keep it interesting, for me. Pipe smokers are definitely collectors as well. Pipes, tobacco, pouches, lighters, tampers, list goes on. Even smoking lounges, if you're lucky enough to have your own. It is really a lifestyle. |

For me, it's never been a hobby, rather it's a part of my life like eating and sleeping. A hobby is making models, playing golf, fishing etc.

Every every time I swear to all of em that their will never ever be allowed in my car again one more damn McDs balloon. They should basically say, hey thanks for eating here now go drive into a ditch. Ok maybe pipe smoking isn't a fool proof remedy 🎈 |

Smoking a pipe is part of my life whenever I get the opportunity to do so. I look forward to it, and I purposely make room for it. The tobacco collecting, and pipe making, are definitely a hobby.

Just my opinion but I seriously doubt any pipe smoker that has been enjoying the pleasure of his pipe and tobacco for five + years considers it a hobby. It becomes part of who we are. We become more contemplative and more likely to give a matter some serious consideration before speaking or taking action. Pipe smoking usually improves the character of the pipe smoker. The rest of the world should take notice of this, consider learning more about it, and apply the lessons learned to their own lives. In other words they should take up pipe smoking. The world could be better for it.

I feel the same way with both pipes and cigars. When it becomes routine to clean your pipes, check in on your cellar, refill humidification systems in your humidor, rotate cigars, etc, it becomes part of your lifestyle. I used to tell people “I smoke cigars” or “I smoke pipes”, now I’ll say “I’m a cigar and pipe smoker”. It’s not something I just “do” anymore, it’s part of who I am.

I agree. It does become part of a life. People ask me what is in the "case"? I tell them it's a pipe bag. With me, I would probably forget my cell phone before I forgot my pipe bag and tobacco pouch. |

I enjoy the hobby! It involves my two of my favorite things, accumulating stuff and sitting around doing nothing. Pipes, the collection and pipe travel are never far from my mind.  |
