I would have liked to have seen roadsdiverged monograph on Colloidal Silver, as I have used it in the past. My ties to Kentucky go back 57 years, but no matter who (first base) said what (second base) or I don't know (third), We are BriarPatchians. We get over all of it. It rolls off our sleeves. I was going to go into my "Stripes" We're Mutants whose ancestors got kicked out of every reputable country in the world, but this didn't seem like the time. Okay, who cried when Old Yeller got shot? C'mon (raising hand) Of course I cried at Old Yeller. I was 6 years old and my own puppy had just died of distemper. I cried at A Dog's Purpose and I cried when we put down the Yorkie who bit me every night before bed for 10 years. I love dogs.

I dont think I've ever watched a dog movie and not cried. Ever see "my dog skip"? I did once and will never watch it again. I forgot what my original reply was all about. Ramvling thoughts as they passed through my head while thinking about my old boss who thought Colloidal Silver was a cure all. Sounder... Where The Red Fern Grows .. What hell was in the water that an entire generation of young adult authors decided to scar kids on the subject of dogs. Haha Terhune started it. My second dog ever was a collie. She was the right dog in the right place at the right time. She got me from 10 to 17. I don't know what I would have done without her.

Although sad, Where the Red Fern Grows was an excellent movie IMO.
Dog fighting.... the people should be beat to within an inch of their life. Within an inch so they can heal up and get beat again.
I had Pitbulls as family pets when my children were just babies. I have pictures of my kids laying all over them, pulling on them, etc. Never had any trouble out of them.
Way off topic, but dog fighting hits a very sensitive nerve with me.
I trust dogs more than humans.

His name was Hobo and I used to ride him like a horse when I was 3. And with that, attention defecit disorder has completely derailed our friend's apology thread.

I’m Jewish, so I’ve heard it all, and still in these times with the society we all live in, anti-semitism will still be around us, long after I’m gone! If you were a friend I took it as a joke, never crossed my mind otherwise. If you were foe, I literally beat the living daylight out of you until you were out cold. There are jokes and there are times when “ one “ might not see it as a joke, so I for one completely understand how easy someone can get offended. I can add no more.

I've got some great Jewish jokes. You got any redneck jokes just to keep it fair?

Probably have longer Kentuckian roots than most here, my ancestor lived there in 1789 in the district of Charles Campbell ( Now Campbell county).... I have the tax records...no mules, no horses, no slaves.
I was deeply offended by the behavior, and in light of the economic plight we have suffered through the decades, I will be seeking reparations.
Irish on my dads side, native American mom....I think I am going to have a drink to assuage my misery.

I thought I might have had a cousin from Kentucky, but he was from Tennessee with the McCoy bunch. They hung him in Virginia. But they make the best Whisky in the world in Kentucky so they must be a great bunch.

A Garand always makes a lasting impression. It definitely always gets some attention when I take mine to the range....reading the memoirs of WWII vets as they recount the damage inflicted are pretty impressive compared to what the Axis powers had on hand with their service rifles. Patton said it well about the M1 Garand.

And with that, attention defecit disorder has completely derailed our friend's apology thread. I had to go back to figure out how we detoured to dogs, but I'm with you guys. Those Humane Society commercials about neglected and abused dogs kill me. I just can't believe anyone would hurt a dog like that - sick.

Dogs improve most any situation and people behave better when there's a dog present. Well, decent people anyway.

Being overly politically correct has become a sickness of the worst kind a new form of bigotry. In 54 years of walking the planet I have yet to meet anyone who is perfect and without any faults. That's the way I like people imperfect and with lots of faults and shortcomings I call them humans. If all you have to do is walk around looking for a reason to feel butt hurt count me out. Go around telling enough folks you don't like their actions or the way they think and I can guarantee one day someone will stump you into a mudhole of your own making. Your mileage may vary at least I hope it does.

OK, it's morning here and I'm catching up on threads. Knowing Ted from regular interaction, I know he was making a joke and he didn't mean any offence. However, what one person might find funny (or even what many people might find funny) might not be funny to others. Sometimes jokes made in innocence strike a nerve and offend someone else. Maybe on a different day they wouldn't be offended, but some days people are more sensitive to jokes, 'innocent' or not, than others. The thread in question (now moved) had the potential to offend. Ok, it didn't offend bigwoolie , but that's not to say it didn't offend someone else (which it did). When that happens it's time to lock a thread down and move on. So in order to protect the community, I locked the thread and have subsequently moved it. I appreciate your understanding in this matter.

Locking a thread does not offend me at all, and I certainly would never intentionally offend anyone. As a writer, I find it interesting that we receive feedback almost immediately, now that we have computers. In the old days, a writer would say what he/she would have to say, and the market would show the response. At my age, looking back, I wonder how some folks have become so "thin-skinned" about a differing opinion, or... just words.

I am one who doesn't get offended easily. I eas born in New York state, lived in Texas for most of 30 years, lived in Illinois and now in Wisconsin. You can call me a damn yankee, a red neck, or whatever. Anything worse, though and that might not be lemonade or iced tea in your glass, lol.

Born and raised in central Ky. I bash those primitive people ruthlessly, cause I was one.
