In a prior post that was locked, I did not intend to insult any member or their heritage. I apologize if I offended anybody, it was not my intention. That’s not the type of person I am, nor do I know any other members of the Patch that would intentionally offend anybody.......let alone a Patcher.

I haven't seen the post, but I'm sure you weren't being deliberate.
In fact, I'd like to take this opportunity to make a pre-emptive apology. I'm a real clown at times and I can lack a filter. My foot actually has season tickets for my mouth. All jokes aside, there have been times when I suspected something I've said came out wrong. I dig all you cats and if I ever cross a boundary, I'd love a private message to help me correct my course.

Ted, your kindness is always out front. The thread actually had a couple things I had never heard of, and with Darin my thoughts went to colloidal silver. What we say in a moment of amusement is not the measure of who we are

Saw the post, to me it came across as tongue-in-cheek.
It is sad to me that rather than assuming someone was trying to make a joke it's automatically offensive.
Oh well, life goes on.

I read the post all the way to it being locked...why? I asked myself...no one was being unruly, no one was being decisive..whatever it was apparently went over my head. My wife is from Ky. and I often visit my "family" up there so to me I'm as much a Kentuckian as anyone...I wasn't offended by anything anyone said.
Ted would be the last person here to make an offending comment.

As the obvious Kentuckian on that thread, let me say that I myself was not, and am not, offended in any way. I only spoke up as I did so that folks were made aware that things could easily, and quickly, go in an unfortunate direction if not careful. That was all. Nobody meant anything, and I don't think anyone took any of it sour. We all have parts of our heritage that is food for sombody else's humor, and if we are honest and not rediculously full of ourselves, we gotta see the humor in it too. Otherwise, we would all be voting Democrat!

Is this in reference to the Kentucky thread? It could be worse, ask West Virginians😁. Not to mention the many Dorothy jokes I have endured since moving to Kansas or the hanging Chads of Florida😁.
PS Full disclosure: My mother's mom, my grandmother, was born in West Virginia.

Indeed, he is a good moderator. I typed out a long reply about colloidal silver before it got locked. It must have got locked before I was done because now it's in the abyss with my package from Iwan Ries. Ted, anyone that knows you knows you meant no harm. Good on you for the apology just in case though. You're a good man and we all know that

lonecoyote, far be it for me to understand all on the Patch. I contributed my own comment to that thread which I now regret. Thank you for the apology, however, and I offer my own.

Does that give this Yank a 'get outta jail free card' with you southern gentleman? Also, the greater Pittsburgh area is really just the northern tip of Appalachia. We have more in common with KY than we do Philly. Sorry to hijack the thread, but this KY bourbon has made me loquacious. Haha

Besides, wasn't the movie Deliverance, with the dueling banjos scene, set in North Georgia 😁?

There...I just tied my own noose... My grandmother is from West Virginia. Came from an area that is still very cut off and rural. Never talks much about her family. After my mother was born (out of wedlock in the 50's) she moved to Baltimore for a fresh start. At nearly 40, my mother learned she had an older brother. My grandmother has never explained it nor the fathers or father. We know nothing like if my mother and uncle came from the same man or different, let alone if they were family. (We Think it was family but not sure how close. Brother? Cousin?) Maybe now your you're not the only one in a noose. @lonecoyote , jokes are jokes. I think we here understood you joking and others joking as well. Closing the thread was just a way of making sure the jokes stayed just that, harmless jokes.

...I saw the segment on a television show, and thought it was interesting... had no idea it would turn into a "thing"... I love that show. It's on my TV every Sunday morning for a few hours while I'm debating on whether I should get up or stay in bed. I never seen that one on there and found it very interesting. Thank you for the video. That was also said in my reply that got sucked into a black hole.

I would have liked to have seen roadsdiverged monograph on Colloidal Silver, as I have used it in the past. My ties to Kentucky go back 57 years, but no matter who (first base) said what (second base) or I don't know (third), We are BriarPatchians. We get over all of it. It rolls off our sleeves. I was going to go into my "Stripes" We're Mutants whose ancestors got kicked out of every reputable country in the world, but this didn't seem like the time. Okay, who cried when Old Yeller got shot? C'mon (raising hand)

I dont think I've ever watched a dog movie and not cried. Ever see "my dog skip"? I did once and will never watch it again.
I forgot what my original reply was all about. Ramvling thoughts as they passed through my head while thinking about my old boss who thought Colloidal Silver was a cure all.

My thought was that maybe that guy who died from too much Colloidal Silver might have been saved with the Methylene Blue. Woops, not sure he died of the silver, but he was a deep blue

I try to never watch a movie that has a dog or anything else injured...can't stand cruelty in a fashion...seen too much of it already in my life...like people who think dog fighting is fun...don't let me near them...I'll be in jail faster than lightning.

C'mon (raising hand) OK, I'm going to open myself up here. I come from Greek immigrants who came to the US around 1900. They were fleeing from oppression in the old country. My wife's background hails from Alabama where a great grandfather left for Oklahoma and then on to New Mexico during the dust bowl period. Her great grandfather had his father's land stolen by an Uncle. The great grandfather sat atop a hill with a rifle with the intent of killing the Uncle during a cattle auction. Instead he put the rifle down and traveled west to Oklahoma. If he hadn't done that I wouldn't have the wife I have today, so I guess I can only thank him. As a note, her great grandmother was an immigrant from Ireland who spoke no English, only Gaelic (or is it Celtic). We all have dips, twists and dark corners in our past. It is the nature of life.

I know empathy is a creative trait and not all people's mental gifts lie in that side of the brain, but for it to not exist in any part in a human is scary. Imagine how dark and ridged a place their thoughts must be.
