To be fair (and pedantic), the doctrine of free speech celebrated in this country does not mean that everyone has to accept what they hear without offense, no matter what it is. Protected free speech only refers to the government censoring your speech (or expression). If an official of the government did not attempt to censor you, your free speech right has not been infringed just because someone didn't like what you said. Basically, they have just as much of a right to be offended by it as you have to say it in the first place. Freedom! I totally agree that many people go overboard with being offended. The only things that offend me personally are suggestions that others' freedoms should be infringed; so basically racism, sexism, and other discrimination (and I mean someone genuinely meaning it, not just saying something someone "interprets" that way). I'll argue against that all day. Well, and the logical side of me is offended by anyone passionately arguing a position that is refuted by evidence and data. If I have a "trigger", it is the flat earthers. Anyway, I'm just suggesting that a flip side to someone being free to say what they want is other people being free to feel however they want about that. We are, of course, also free to not care how others feel about it, which solves the problem nicely. Well said.

Words have a lot of power. Justin would have kicked my sorry arse out of here a long time ago if mine had any significance. Fortunately for me, he realized I was simply drunker than three monkeys and allowed me to skate. You slay me sometimes, Mark!

Don, Charlie, Baboo,me and a couple others. I had my 16 year old cattle dog Zach (RIP little buddy) sleeping at my side and the wood burning stove cooking in the hinterlands. It was a hoot for sure.

Jim was the guy that really put this place on the map. What a treasure to have him here with only six of us. We didn't deserve it, unworthy dogs the lot.

There has been many good points made above.
What are words? They are used to present a thought or series or thoughts. They are used to paint a picture in you mind of an event or item the writer has/is experiencing. They are also used to describe something he is looking at describing the beauty of it. The use of words has been a medium to preserve and pass on oral history. These same words are used to pass on the craftmans skill and tradition. A mother passes on her knowledge to her daughter. A father passes on his knowledge to his son. Even in this time of electronics oral tradition is still alive.
Looking at the life cycle we are in the days controlled by the mongers of hate and discontent they rely on the written and spoken word to spread there twisted thoughts and desires. These twisted words brings them stength though the negative actions and reactions they see and read.
We make a choice each time we use words to convey our thoughts. Do we present the our thoughts in a negative and/or demeaning manner? Or do we present our thoughts in a positive manner? The choice is ours and ours alone. We still have one other choice to make, to react or not to react, again the choice is ours.
Though out time man has used language (words ) to unite society and put forth the rules to guide the people. These words were also used to educate the thinkers and historians, theses shcolors passed on there knowledge to others. The story tellers took pieces of knowledge used it to tell stories.
Remember, the choice of how you use words is yours. You control what and how you say/write it. They are a part of you and reflect who you are.
My train of thought is drifting Time to step away A leach it trying to drain
