This is a test thread to see what kind of response I might get. I have talked this over with two friends (Patch members) and they have agreed That this might be something that Patchers might like. Here it is...I am offering my services to stain and glaze a minimum of 3 cobs for Patch members at a cost of $10.00 per cob plus USPS return tracking # shipping which runs about $9.00-10.00 dollars. Your investment would be a minimum of $40.00 for 3 cobs of any size or dimension plus tracking # shipping back to you. So..the bottom line is that you can have your cobs look like the pictures that I have posted. (Disclaimer) Not every cob has great “grain” and it is possible that your cob in question may not look as great as these do...but it will be stained and glazed to the best of my ability and hopefully you too can have a cob that is a beauty. You may choose between saddle tan and dark brown...the pictures you see are saddle tan...the bottom picture is using dark brown. PM me if you are interested...payment is by cash only...you are guaranteed delivery (both ways) by using the tracking number and by using this method it has an automatic insurance of $50.00. Bottom picture is using dark brown stain.

That's beautiful work. I don't smoke cobs, but if I did, I'd seriously consider your offer.

I can testify that Walt is a real character. Lol! Seriously the pipes pictures he posted are mostly of my cobs. The pictures do not do them justice. Walt does beautiful work and his prices are very reasonable. You won’t be sorry if you let him give your cobs a bit of sophistication.

+1 on Walt being a good guy. Very reasonable price and they are well worth it. The pictures are terrible compared to what they look like in person.

The other day while with AJ he showed me two Cobs that Walt stained and glazed for him. I was impressed, especially with the Forever stem that AJ used on one of them that looked like a Cumberland stem. Walt does some fine work, I was very impressed indeed. Plus the two Cobs were Country Gentleman bowls, my favorite 👌👍👍

That's beautiful work. I don't smoke cobs, but if I did, I'd seriously consider your offer. For years I didn’t smoke Cobs, a few bad experiences with some early MM Cobs. Their Dagner Design Cob Poker and the Country Gentleman bowls are well made and outstanding smokers. You owe it to yourself to try a Country Gentleman, you’ll be hooked. If I had an unsmoked Country Gentleman I’d gladly send it your way.

No other Cob smokes as well......JMHO

I personally prefer the country gentleman cob over the Legend...bigger bowl for longer smokes...Legend for short ones...fact is, I just plain love cobs...particularly after I stained them...gave them a better sense of elegance...not an easy thing for a plain cob.

The Stubby is my favorite cob now, used to be the CG. Love the acrylic bit on that one. The Little Devils are nice too.

Never use to care for cobs...I guess it was the plainness of them..but after staining them and looking at them in a "new light"...I was impressed on their beauty...like lifting a veil and seeing the grain of kernels.

One of my favorite Cobs is a custom made nosewarmer using a Country Gentleman bowl. The pipe now has been smoked over 1,000 times. What ever Burley tobacco’s I stuff it with smoke outstanding. Here’s a picture.......

Welp, we are, hopefully, going to be starting a raffle, soon as I hear back from our fearless leader Sparks, and as part of that raffle I will be offering to throw into the pot, some of my stained Legend cobs in addition to a custom tamper (see custom tamper thread). These have all been cleaned of fuzz in the stems and they are unsmoked brand new.

I mean at your obvious age, unless you're a Dunhill snob, there is no valid reason to avoid a cob. I've been smoking cobs since age 12. They are the best, cheapest and disposable. And you can turn them into anything you want in a pipe.
