I've been associated with the Disney organization for a long while, and no one was a better friend to me than Ron. Even though he was ousted in the '70s, he was Walt's son-in-law, married to Walt's only biological daughter, Diane. He was responsible for a lot of good things for the company.
I was active in the Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco for several years, and it was a great experience.
The news of his death hit me hard. Like a family member.

It is always hard to lose a friend, they are few and a piece of ourselves goes with them. My condolences.

I won't be able to have a pipe today, but I'll remember him and the family. Thoughts are with you too, buddy. Next pipe I smoke will be in his honour.

"He later produced “Tron,” “Pete’s Dragon” and “Escape to Witch Mountain.”
He climbed up the Disney Co. ladder, founded Touchstone Pictures and the Disney Channel, became president and eventually the CEO in 1983."
Wow! Really owe this gentleman a thank you for making a nice piece of my childhood.

Martin, you have my condolences and I'll raise a pipe to the man. On the topic of Disney, didn't they just acquire some major entertainment or communications company? Think I read something about it. Maybe Time Warner.

I grew up in Southern California (at least after family moved there from Ohio when I was 9) and went to Disneyland often. I think my first visit was when Disneyland was just a few years old. I remember the old A,B,C,D tickets.
