Knowledge is learning from your mistakes. Wisdom is learning from the mistakes of others. That was my mum's line to me on many occasions, or at least a version of it. She would say, 'you learn from your mistakes, but it's better to learn from someone else's'. One thing that I pray for regularly is wisdom. I don't care if I'm not terribly smart or stylish or anything else...I value wisdom above all of that.

I love that brief period we have here in PA when the tomatoes are perfect. I just eat tomato sandwiches with mayo and pepper until they go back to mealy and tasteless.. So do I! Never knew anyone else did that! My Mrs likes tomato sandwiches also,I don't much care for tomatoes. But I will say that the idea of Cherry Tomatoes in a fruit salad doesn't sound bad. Years back we had our granddaughter with us over a summer, she would go out each morning and pick a couple handfuls of cherry tomatoes for "breakfast". We didn't get any,she ate all the CT that year.

It does sound absolutely atrocious. For a while, after I discovered that recipe, I was really into old Jell-O mold and aspic recipes. NOT to make them, but just to read what people used to do with it. I mean, some of those old 50s-60s Jell-O recipes were just mind boggling. Like canned vienna sausages and canned carrots suspended in orange Jell-O. This site is really interesting, if you want to see some travesties from the past: www.lileks.com/institute/gallery/index.html

So I don't try to share it.

When I lived in Baton Rouge in a very nice Subdivision, I had a fishing camp on Vermilion Bay, redid a lot of boats, for myself and friends. My neighbor across the street had a Community College, screwed the govt big time with students who could of cared less because they were getting a check, and owner was too. He was a know it all. One day builders showed up at his house and he waved me over, I’m building a detached garage and a boat house. I looked at his plans, didn’t say nothing . Couple days went and framing started, I walked over and looked at his boat, paced off the boat and trailer tongue. I told my neighbor boat won’t fit. He sarcastically said it will. Walked away. After it was built I walked over and tongue of boat trailer was sticking under the garage door about 3 ft .I told my neighbor tongue needs fresh air. If looks could kill I would be dead.!

Today, I hate all things stewed.

HUGE ^^^^^^^^^^ PLUS ONE Scott👍 PS I learned from one sibling “ how to do things “ the right way!! I’m the exact opposite 👍👍👍One learns best from the mistakes of ones older siblings. I was the oldest and so had no-one to learn. My loss.

In the days before I educated myself, I proudly hooked up a ceiling light fixture. It burned brightly and I was so proud. Problem was the light could not be left on long before the wiring insulation started smoking. I sold that house, for other reasons, and often wonder what it was I did wrong back then?

Ever try it? It's god-awful. I mean it's really, REALLY bad. Fighter pukes are a masochistic bunch... It has a theme song, written by two F-16 pilots. I won't link it but you can search youtube for "Dos Gringos Jeremiah Weed." Be warned, there's something in this song to offend EVERYONE. It's not for sensitive ears... but is equal- opportunity. 😁

I almost took advice once but decided it was better to be a rebel without a cause and sing, I Did It My Way.

My mom bought an old cookbook at a yard sale and we had a laughs and gasps going through it. The jello recipes were among the more disturbing ones. It's like there was a campaign to adapt gelatin from traditional European cooking into a more fun, party type food and it was wrong.
Was it Christmas Vacation where the aunt puts cat food in the jello? haha Not far off from reality.

Cool story!
Song was great too. It's like The Pogues or Flogging Molly had joined the AF.

This is my favorite of theirs. It's a little less offensive so here's a link. "Last of the breed" is good too.
