"Definitely not from around here are you? Your answers were closer to the average person outside of Ireland and Britain than anywhere inside it."

The quiz states that I don't belong in Ireland, Scotland or England, and for me not to bother for a visit?

I grew up thinking I was of Irish stock. Well, computer genealogy searches put the lie to that. In fact, I reached the conclusion that no one with my surname has probably ever set foot in Ireland.

It said I was not from around here. Or there. My Dad's side did set sail from England in 1638. On the same day as my birthday. Our earliest family history on that side, traces back to around Blackpool.

So not exactly on topic, but tangential, is that I hear the following names for the UK: United Kingdom, Great Britain, England, British Isles. Which is correct, or are they all with different meanings?

Which is correct, or are they all with different meanings? so England is a country, along with Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The British Isles are the islands that are above France... Most of them are part of the United Kingdom, but not all (Jersey and Guernsey are part of France, I think, but are part of the British Isles). It's more like the group of islands in the British region. Great Britian is the largest of these islands, containing England, Scotland and Wales, but not Northern Ireland. The United Kingdom is short for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It's the group of countries under sovereign rule. At least, I think that's the difference.

At the beginning of the test choose raised in Ireland or UK, even if you were not and see what happens. Apparently when I did, the program no longer stated that I was from Alpha-Centuari.
