This morning something I’ve not seen in a long time an Old Black man came and asked if he could hunt rabbits on my property, looked like his younger son also, had 4 beagles. I took Buddy inside, said to him go ahead, I just heard a shot, must of got one. Most people won’t let hunters on their land anymore, easy to get sued. Old Man was clean , old truck was clean , felt sorry for him. Buddy is going crazy smelling the beagles.

We used to let folks hunt deer on the farm all the time … nothing like corn-fed deer!

Good to let a man get his food where ever he can find it...He asked politely, and you gave him another reason he can thank his Lord that there are still good people left in this world...a fellow traveler...lookin' forward to that glorious day.

Rabbit hunting was one of my favorite sports until I got so darn sick and feeble I can't navigate the terrain anymore. I let people hunt my land and fish in my ponds if they ask in the right and polite way. I love the shooting sports and would hate to see them die away. It don't matter what color you are if you are of the same mind. One of my favorite hunting buddies was Ed Bullock, a fine hunter and gentleman of color. He has since passed away and if being a good upright Christian man carries any weight in Heaven he has his favorite Beagles with him.

Havin' that acreage is great...no nosy neighbors sneezin and you have to hand him a kleenex. That is what I love about my place...only an acre, but woods all around...somebody sneeze and they get shot....unless they are raccoons or squirrels.

Love people passing hunting, shooting & fishing on to the younger ones.

Good on you Brad! My dad has a beagle... she weighs as much as 2 of them put together.
I love the sound of a pack of hound dogs when they're on the trail. Even better is when they have something treed

That hunter acted like a gentleman and it was kind of you to indulge him.
Here, no one asks. They just poach. I came too close to shooting a couple of them in 2017. What a mess they made! Shooting at my house and barn. I have had poachers kill elk in my pasture and cut my fence at night to haul their ill gotten game. I only noticed because my bull was standing in the highway the next day. He liked warm pavement.
I have come to resent hunters.

Where we live there are lots of deer and wild turkey. They are protected so its illegal to hunt them within the protected area. However, I know a couple of guys who go out late at night with crossbows. Can't remember their names....

Hunting is a good practice without it the effects of overpopulation are worse. Kill only what you need and eat what you kill.

That is a damn shame. I have zero respect for poachers. It's hard to understand how a person could be selfish enough not to understand the reason for fish and game rules, but some just don't care. It's so many times worse that they'd shoot towards a house. I've been a sportsman all my life though, and I really don't feel like that's typical. I've found most hunters and fishermen to be respectful and respectable folks. I don't blame you for resenting what you've seen, it's just a shame a few have to ruin it for everyone.

He didn’t follow the old rule, you usually knocked on door when finished and offer the Landowner some or all of the spoils. I don’t begrudge that , but that’s how you do it, also thank the man for allowing you to hunt, heard 3 shots, hopefully they got a couple rabbits as this was the last week of rabbit season.

I am thinking he thought the polite thing to do was not bother you again and probably meant no disrespect.

Good on you Brad, I would have done the same. I use to allow certain hunters on my property I use to own in Walton NY, there were plenty of whitetail for everyone. Was quite a gathering and some outstanding food feasts👌👍👍
