I'd about bet it's a handmade.
The "Merchant Service" guy thought he had a goldmine after selling a few handmade pipes to elite customers. I wouldn't be surprised if the pipes shipped to retailers were also handmades.

According to my search there isn't ONE merchant service pipe left on eBay right now. They are/are becoming rather rare.

Yeah, new old stock stuff is always a treat. I once acquired a Gillette safety razor new in the package that was dated the quarter and year I was born (stamped on the razor). I am not the collector type but having something like that is special to me. Also since I work for the company that owns Gillette as well (P&G).
