Yep, smoked all of them in the past. Some of the others I remember are John Rolfe, Holiday, Barking Dog, Revelation, Bond Street, Rum & Maple, Sugar Barrel, Field & Stream, Country Doctor, Old Hickory and many more. Some real good blends gone forever and that's sad.

Not an old timer, at least where pipe smoking is concerned, but am fond of a number of OTC Match blends. Have a pound each of Revelation, Country Doctor, and Holiday in the tobacco cellar. Also have tin of Granger.

The fact that "match" blends are being offered for discontinued OTCs says a lot.

Yep, I've smoked every one of those....still reach for SWR almost every day. IMO there is good reason these old timers are still around. One other that I remember well was called Cutty Pipe. My grandfather must have smoked tons of it during his 90 years on earth. It is long gone but is very similar to Five Brothers (still available)....shag cut and VERY potent (better be sitting down when you smoke it). I still have an unopened sleeve of Cutty Pipe that was my grandfathers....he died 40 years ago so it it probably pretty much powder by now. Though much like Five Brothers, grandpa always preferred Cutty Pipe. I guess I will never get to compare them, myself.

I have tried some of them and each one I have tried I would smoke again. Many I have in a jar of OTC tobacco mixed together and I am going to post about that jar in another post.

I started out with Carter Hall, but hubby didn't really like the room note. He does like Captain Black Cherry

Do you have a favorite, Peter? Good thing I put that comma there. ...some I like better than others but for the most part I enjoy them all and each have there own positives...and as John mentioned there are plenty more either as matches(of course some of these have no comparison to originals) or that folks like me still have around.. I've got a few tubs of Barking Dog, Union Leader, Country Doctor, Sugar Barrel, Bond Street, London Dock, Middleton's Cherry, etc..

That Falls Guy, the Apple is still made. It is a Middleton product I believe. Friends was made by Lorillard at one time but don't if someone else picked up production after they quit making it. The tub of Friends I have is from Lorillard. I believe that Bond Street may have been a rum blend. On occasion a "Bond Street Rum Cured" pipe will show up on EBay. They do not say "Old Bond Street" and so are different from the English pipes that carry that mark. Never heard of the last one.

craigmillar should be able to contribute to this thread. He has a good supply of old OTC's.
