Crazy day here. My mother in law is here with THREE Papillon dogs. Our dog is here. Two cats. HVAC guys are in the basement installing a new furnace. The three Papillons are shut in a bedroom and of course are making noise because of the strange noises. Ma in Law has stayed for two extra days because Pa in Law won't come pick her up because it snowed 1/10 inch yesterday. She has come down with the flu and has commandeered the family room and TV for the last two days. Hacking and gagging. Holy crap! My three day break from work has me wanting to go back to work. I will probably go back tomorrow with whatever crud The wife's Ma has. 72 hour work week this week. Oh hell. And to think, I was looking forward to this three day break. At least this afternoon should be good. It could be pipes until bedtime then.

Hey, at least I have a nice long week, this week to help offset the furnace cost a little. We had saved a bunch of money for new flooring. Now it goes for the furnace and water heater.

Someone should be here even without the work going on. On a good note, Father in law takes her over in an hour or two.

I hear you on the germs. They left about half an hour ago. Just finished using lysol wipes on everything. I mean everything. Our pregnant daughter in law and my son live with us for a couple more months. I don't want her coming down with whatever my mother in law has. Pretty fast onset of flu like symptoms. Now to get the furnace and water heater install completed. They are about half way done. I am buying a bottle of something later to go with a few pipes. Maybe a nice tawny port is in order.

My house is a zoo as well. Two dogs, two cats, several fish, and the occasional guest. This morning, I woke up and proceeded to get ready for work. I sat on the bed to put on my socks, looked down, and there was a poo on the floor near the bed. Not a huge poo, more of an almond. My four legged friends rarely use the restroom in the house, and I couldn't figure out which one of them did it as it was not a complete BM. The way I figure it, one of them was asleep by the bed and broke wind, which ejected the offending substance. Ah the joys of pet ownership.

Yes sir! I hit everything. Remotes, light switches, handles, knobs, toilet lever. Everything. It's also nice to lose the chaos of her three little dogs. Back to just our one very good girl. She is so well behaved in comparison.

You're a better man than I, Gunga Din (to quote an old movie). I'd have chucked 'em all out on the curb!

My eye twitched while reading this.
My friend and housemate has two miniature schnauzers. HVAC guy was just here around Christmas. I know at least part of what you're going through. hahaha I like dogs, but these things are rats with alarm clocks for heads.
Sorry your break was spoiled. And it stinks having to spend perfectly good saved money on boring necessities...
Hang in there, Don
Happy IPSD

Yikes! Glad to hear you survived, Don. I don't think I would have. Enjoy the port and a strong smoke.

Yeah, I know of what you speak...sometimes our lil darling gets an attitude and leaves me a puddle on the vinyl floor...I look like I'm skating on ice without the grace...ziiiiiiip and if you are lucky you are still standing upright instead of kissing the floor. Good luck with the de-contamination ritual...and have a drink on us...you need it!

Take a giant can of Lysol in each hand and spray down that house including the mother in law. Spray remaining Lysol at any thing that comes near you. Hang in there Don.

At least I won't have to worry about the water heater or furnace for another 20 years. I like most dogs to a certain degree. Little yippy devils are not my cup of tea. Our little mutt was so funny to watch while the pack of hairy chihuahuas was yipping it up. She kept looking at me like, "What's wrong with them? It's not me." She was such a good girl in comparison. It didn't take much for her to be as well behaved as she is either. On the other hand, you can let a dog get a lot of bad habits if you aren't diligent. Those three little Papillons are mostly ok one at a time but are horrible together.

I'm a mutt fan myself.
My friend is a terrible enabler with his dogs. They jump on him constantly, even while eating. haha I can make eye contact and they leave the room while I eat. Then I yell 'Where my good boys' and they run in for scraps afterward. After a couple times, they do it automatically. Alpha eye contact no longer even needed. But he never established that with them. The smallest one actually thinks it's running their little pack and from my point of view, he kind of is. haha

I survived it with style and grace. I was good to the hairy chihuahua pack and even managed to be pleasant with my mother in law. My only remaining issue is a slight headache from the pvc cement fumes earlier. Time for Advil, a smoke and a wee dram!
