so, someone sent me Acid candela cigarillos. I loved the flavor but they don't last long at all. Up in smoke, literally. I was just curious why candela hasn't been used in pipe tobacco? Does anyone know where I might acquire some candela, might give it a try adding it to some burley or something similar. I would love to be able to smoke candela in a pipe.

Should probably add that those Acid cigars are highly flavored and it may not have been the wrapper you were tasting. It's worth a shot though!

Candela wrapped cigars have always given me a headache and don’t care for the after taste.

Candela was very popular for cigars 50+ years ago. I've seen recent cigar releases using it. I never cared for the leaf but I guess it still has some fans.

Yeah, Candela wrappers have slowly faded from the market. Mostly because they are very light and instill a grassy flavor into a cigar that cant match the flavor qualities of cured or fermented leaf. I am curious as to how it would work in a pipe blend though..

Given its lightness, it may prove to be A Candela in the Wind.

Green, as in Columbo's green cigars? I always wondered what that wrapper was.

Green, as in Columbo's green cigars? I always wondered what that wrapper was. Yep! They basically flue cure the tobacco to "flash dry" while still green rather than color cure them to yellow and then brown. It locks in the chlorophyll and has a mild grassy flavor to it. If done properly with the right variety, it can have mild floral and herbal notes too.
