I've been wondering what I was going to do for work when this job with the race horses ends the end of April. I have no mortgage or dept, so I wasn't really fretting about it, but I was wondering. Well, I just got off the phone with an old friend of mine up in Montana who is starting up a dutch oven / camp cooking school this summer, and they want me to come out from June - August and teach a horsemanship / horse wrangling / guide school simultaneously. That's just right up my ally. Finish up working with horses around the end of August and then head to Mexico until the first week of January. Normal is way overrated.

A job that you’ll enjoy....all the best to you and your wife. Agreed, nice gig. I left it up to the wife where we are going for vacation....I have two nieces in Montana, hoping she picks to go there...Montana is a wonderful place...in the late spring, summer, early fall. The last time I was in Butte, it snowed in June? or July. It was pretty cool watching the jeep run the elk off the runway, so the planes could land... they claimed the asphalt as their tanning salon.

You make it to Montana on vacation this summer while I'm there, give me a holler. I'll take you riding.

Sounds ideal. I've been to Montana over 100 times for business. Great people and a healthy outlook on life.

No debit and free to go anywhere. That's a great gig if you can get it. Nice work! I've spent some time packing through the Montana and Wyoming mountains. Good luck and watch for bears!

I do appreciate all of the well wishes. Yes, it's quite a life. But, like everything else, you can pretty well have whatever you want if you're will to pay the price for it. I trade job security, insurance, retirement, home equity and property for freedom, independence and an unexpected level of peace. And my wife loves it. That helps too.
