Smooth, sandblast, rusticated, cob? Straight or bent?

For me, it depends on the pipe.

Smooth ( don't like holding rough walnuts) Bent (straight pipes to far up in the air and makes my arm sore)

As long as it’s a good smoker, I have no preferences 👌

If it's aesthetics only, my favourite shape would be bent and smooth - the classic pipe shape (in my mind anyway).
However, bent pipes don't help with my drooling and gravity doesn't help either. So I normally smoke a straight pipe over a bent for that reason.

I find smooth hard to hold onto. So the other 2 for me. Mostly.

I don’t like any of them...... empty. Now put tobacco in them and I like all of them! For me, I guess it just depends on the day and what I’m doing.

I like, own, and smoke all of them but I've grown to love bent pipes, particularly blasted ones. Most of mine are straight and smooth though. Go figure

Straight stem pipes are not designs I typically favor (There are exceptions).
With briars if all other things are equal it comes down to two basic questions: How nice is the grain? How good is the rustication (or sandblast)?
My collection: 1. Mainly Briars 2. A number of Meerschaums 3. A few pipes made from different woods (other than briar) and cobs.
Note: I only have one Morta, but believe Morta pipes will move past my Meerschaums at some point; with an improvement in finances. I really do enjoy my Morta pipe.
