When I ran to southern California nightly, my front door Mark had this unit....sounded kinda goofy..cooking food while peeling the miles away in a lunchbox. Now that I am doing city driving, I tire of sandwiches and don't feel like eating out...tally the costs and it really adds up, plus I like the flexibility of not having to pull my rig into a restaurant...waiting in line and paying for the "benefit". www.amazon.com/RoadPro-12-Volt-Portable-Stove-Black/dp/B00030DLEE/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8I have used this for the last few weeks...I copied a couple reviews, because they say it pretty well. (better than I could have) I agree...all I want is coffee when departing the Hacienda, but about the time I roll to the terminal, my tummy is doing the rumbly grumbly. This guy gives reviewing gold: I have used the unit for a week, and it rocks! Reheats my homemade sausage/ Bacon biscuit/ muffins on the way to work....And Bakes up to 300 degrees...There are a lot of ready made products that are microwave or oven ready...quite often the oven ready option delivers much better results. Really nice in a whole lot of situations...........Road trip with the wife, or just a day trip fishing....

You should trade trucks with Tsal. His has a convection oven and a dishwasher.

I can understand why you like this. When I pull my cargo trailer, or even my old 26' sailboat that the total length was 32',it was a nightmare to get in and out of any place smaller than Walmart. I can't imagine driving something as big as you drive. With this you only need a rest area to have a hot meal. I guess you can get pretty creative with it. I couldn't tell if it has an adjustable thermostat. I suspect that it does.

Heck Charlie, that’s a steal of a deal for any trucker or camper. Or keep your coffee warm all day when traveling. You can do a slow cooked stew from scratch in the morning, plug into an 12v accessory outlet and have “ truck stew “ by mid afternoon. Enjoy yours for many years👌👍👍

I'm going to have to get one of those. It would be great for reheating leftovers and I wouldn't have to eat at the drivethru's. I don't have a set lunchtime and usually just grab something when traveling between jobs. It would be nice to eat something hot instead of fast food.

Pretty cool! Looks like it takes a standard bread pan refill which would be nice for keeping it clean. Hope it serves you well!

Enjoy yours for many years👌👍👍 Roadpro makes other 12 volt appliances that are better suited for coffee, and making stews. read.nxtbook.com/das/overdrive_truckers_news/truckers_gear_guide_volume_8/on_the_road_with_roadpro_appl.htmlNo, it doesn't...It doesn't even have an on/off switch......Just the 12v plug. This isn't the be all, end all for dining on the road...just an option. There are youtube videos that I have not watched...one where someone claims to have baked a whole chicken, and another one complaining about a bacon and egg fail......sounds like someone had a common sense failure on that. www.youtube.com/results?search_query=roadpro+portable+stove

I think they are just enough different in size to be incompatible...at the truckstop the roadpro set of 6 or so was 5 bucks....a non starter, one of the reviewers at amazon posted a link to cheaper options...so far for the stuff I have done, pop up foil sheets have worked....I will have to chase down the pans though, they would be handy for wetter stuff to reheat. I have had varying success trying to keep warm in thermal jugs and stuff, but if you can keep the food at refrigerated temperature, and heat it up when you want it, the food spends less time in the danger zone.

That looks like a neat little gadget. I'm glad you're having fun with it. Is it hard on the battery?

I don't think it is a problem for reheating something for a half hour to an hour in a car when it is off, unless your battery is already on the decline. One thing I found handy, was to roll some aluminum foil into 2 small ropes and lay crosswise for things like a bagel dog, corn dog or burrito. That elevates the food so that it heats evenly without the food resting directly on the base that gets pretty hot. We have several thin gauge cooling racks we use for cookies, I am going to trim one down and see how that goes.

You can really pull down some coin if you have a wife that drives... being in a cab with another individual to that degree would take its toll on me, and one of us would probably end up dead.... 37 years married... probably be a 3 month marriage otr.

That'll be nice during hunting season. Our deer lease is in the middle of nowhere, and we are usually left to eating sandwiches in the truck for lunch before heading back out.

I was telling the wife that with a tailgate type dinner, one could fill the foil pan with Hebrew national hot dogs, cook them for a bit, heat up a pan of chili, with onions in the cooler box...beats a cold sandwich.

HAHA, we were thinking the same thing, except with Evangeline Maid white bread and boudin. oldcajun123 can likely attest to the fact that hot boudin (from Best Stop and out of the casing) on Evangeline Maid bread on a cold day are one of life's great treats. This thing will cure the problem of keeping the boudin hot. A couple of links and a little water to keep them moist...GREAT STUFF!

Patrick there never were truer words on boudin on Evangeline Maid bread. Used to stop at Best Stop, I would buy buy boudin and cracklings for the Hunting Club SW of Gueydan. We always had to reheat when I got there. We had an Old Cajun Coon LeJuene who had the best lab, Coon was what you call thrifty, I would call him Cheap, never would bring anything to the Camp. His dog was the best trained Lab I’ve ever seen. He would put a crackling on the dogs forehead , the dog trembling to eat the crackling , he would not eat it till Coon said so. I thought it was cruel, and when Coon was playing cards I would give his lab a little bag of cracklings on the side. I showed my wife the little oven and lamented how nice it would have been when we were HotShotting.

A couple new refinements... My wife picked up a fish/ veggie barbecue basket unused from a thrift store...out came the bolt cutters and diagonal pliers...the sections serves as a great oven rack, so that certain foods do not sit right on the heated bottom giving a more even heat. The pop up foil sheets are only a dollar a box at the .99 cent store to line the bottom. She also picked up some silicone collapsible pans with leakproof lids...the bouncing of the truck resulted in no drips....just pull out the accordion, food from the cooler box into it, and it works out pretty slick...Silicone is easier on the hands than foil, cleans easy and is reusable. Loved my freewheeling days.
I wish I can still do it. I'm tied to the grid wherever I go because unless I have a hot shower, I can't move in the morning. Severe RA. I cant even make it to the local gym.
There's so many options for full-time van dwellers and boondockers thesedays it's amazing.
