I didn't shed tears like I did with the end of The Pipe Smokers Ephemeris but I'm sad that I got my last issue of Pipes & Tobacco's magazine today. I was a charter subscriber and I really enjoyed the magazine over the years. I was happy to see pipe buddy's Scottie Piersel pipe featured on the cover and Lawdog Robert Lawing inside. RIP

I'd say for long term subscribers, it'll be a sad loss.

I've got my back issues, but it doesn't make up for the loss.

I've got my back issues, but it doesn't make up for the loss. I love the English language... I thought, for a second, that you were hoping that your back problems might help take your mind off the situation.

Never read it so I guess I'm missing nothing...wish I had, but...Oh, well. Something else I missed out on.

RIP You are just an old fart...magazine schmagazine! I too, like the printed word more...nothing like holding it in your hands. The magazine business has taken a beating, they aren't as cheap to produce as just dumping it online...some of the Gun magazines that I used to subscribe to, now offer digital versions online for free...but the way it works sucks... fmgpublications.ipaperus.com/FMGPublications/AmericanHandgunner/AHJA10/#/I still try to read Mas Ayoob's columns though.

...what about those with 5 yr. subscriptions? I believe smellthehatfirst asked about that and was told "when and if' publication ends, refunds will be provided. Personally, I wouldn't count on it.

Yeah, I wouldn't either. I'd rather get an issue of Tobacconist than nothing. I got burned on a couple of book collector magazines that went under mid subscription. The difference might be that Speccom was sold and one of the book mags just closed shop and the other I got a couple issues of map collector magazine. For as small and esoteric a hobby, we were just lucky to have had a full color glossy for 23 years.

We were really lucky to have had such a high quality P&T magazine for our small pipe smoking community.

Got my issue. The editors desk article basically reads that the magazine is done. No mention of refunds, just a few shout outs to the staff and NASPC and of course the subscribers. It mentions they are open to someone else stepping up either in print or online.
c'est la vie
